I love the Snapdragon 660 SoC, but it's always in a 5.5" or bigger device, the only one that is smaller in size is the Sharp S2, which is only for the Japanese market and has no SD-Slot, no B20 yadda yadda.

It comes down to quality control. Yes, TCL had some early issues with the first Keyones (I.e. screens detachment), but that was more bean counters cutting corners causing the problem than actual design flaws.
Screens should be mechanically fastened, not trusting glues, which if mixed wrong or of a cheap quality, to hold them in place. Such is the era of designed obsolescence. Guaranteed product turnover.
That being said, now that TCL knows what is expected as far as QA standards, I see the Keyone line improving with time.
People seem to forget the QA issues the big name companies have on a regular basis. Apple, Samsung, LG all have had issues with their flagships and yet people still like to take pot shots at a company willing to buck the current fad designs. Rather weak arguments.

The claimed specs sound decent. Do you guys think phones will hit 10 gb of ram next year? I won't be surprised if they do.

Sure that they'll ask the price of an entry level flagship. At that price, I prefer a real flagship phone. Further, there are already some in the market with better specifications and at less price that this will have.
And when you drop your phone the luck matter more than anything else. A simple pointed or sharp object hitting the screen and bye.

Ghostwolf, 22 Nov 2017If the software hasn't been optimized for the hardware yet,... more I'd say the S8 is pretty fragile. I read quite a few complaints from people who dropped their S8s and broke them. I think a case/cover is good idea for 9 out 10 phones.

I myself could care less about arbitrary benchmark test.
If it is smooth running, and gives the same 1 1/2 to 2 days battery time as the gen 1 version could, then I say it is well worth the $650 to $750 price range.
Yes, that is the upper limit for a "mid-range" phone, but would rather have that than some fragile glass covered "flag ship" that is the latest fad for all the fanboys wowed by something new and shiny.

Out of all the attempts at making a PKB droid in the past from other OEM's, I think Blackberry is the only one who made a truly integrated experience with a standard most of us are familiar with before touch screens were fun to use.
