S7 has 5.1" screen and 3000 mah battery compared to your iPhone 7 with just 4.7" screen and a mere 1700 mah battery. See Apple is the one who can provide dual cam in base iphone within its footprint. And regarding your follower comment, it will be good for you to know where the inspiration came from for iPhone 6 plus in the first place. Don't know? From Samsung's very own Note series of big screen phones. Phablet race was started by Samsung Note.

It would be a bad decision if Samsung decide to differentiate the S9 and S9+ by giving only one of them the dual camera, or other such hardware differentiators (other than screen size and battery, as it is with the S8/S8+). I'd like to see both phones otherwise identical, as they are today.
If Samsung do go ahead with the S9 Mini, the S9 Mini is one I wouldn't mind seeing specced down on cameras - but again, keep it worthy of a flagship family.

So 2018 would be an iterative year for Samsung, aye?
As if 2017 wasn't... same ram, same camera module, pretty much same soc (8895 ~ 8890), *less* battery, same ppi.
All they did with S8 was to take S7 edge and make it taller.
If S9 is even more iterative than that ... brace yourselves, Samsung is in some deep money grab mode...
Btw every year their phones come sooner (used to come mid april, even may some of the times) and each gen is more underwhelming than the rest.
At the same time others like Apple and Huawei move in leaps and bounds ... apprantely Samsung is tired of being first and gives precedence to others...

Going by the same logic the note 9 should have better specks than the s9+
So far that has not happened. The note series has the same internals and that is not good it needs to be higher than the s series.

Almost boring, there is no dual stereo speakers (Harman Kardon) beside dual cams! to Samsung!! Why did you buy Harman Kardon around 8 billions!? World of cars perhaps!

S7 Edge has better cpu, gpu, ram, storage, screen, camera module, Gorilla 4.
A9 is way cheaper to be built, so there is more $ for battery becausebthey save from rest.
It is also about profits... Samsung sells much more S than A.

If this is true, then Samsung deserves to get called out for being merely a follower. It makes sense that the non-plus iPhone only has a single primary cam because you can only put so much hardware in a very compact body. But a single primary cam in the upcoming S9 which has a bigger footprint? The Huawei P10 is basically the same size as the Galaxy S8 and it has a dual primary cam and a bigger battery. I hope Huawei takes this opportunity to make the P11 with a more modern 18:9 aspect ratio and water&dust resistance while keeping the dual primary cam setup and decent battery size in the same compact body.
