Nokia. GSM 20 years ago. 3G and wlan in around 2001-2002. 3.5g around 2007-2008. Still you say Nokia is not innovative? What is innovative if Nokia is not?

I think that we are beginning to reach the limits of the mobile phone specs. 16million colours has been the standard for a number of years now. 32bits is enough for a mobile screen. Likewise the retina display 326 ppi is more than enough. 4.3-5" screens seem to be the max. 5" is not pocket friendly, and tablet territory. Similarly, when quad cores eventually arrive, (more as a benchmark than a need), I think that'll be the limit. There will be no need for faster than quad on a mobile device. On laptops sure, but they run a lot of extra hardware a mobile will never have. Megapixel cameras don't need more than 12. Advances here, will be in optic lenses and zooms. 1080 seems to be an industry limit at the moment, too.
Of course, the main advances will need to be in battery and memory. I know apple wants to shift away from physical memory, and into cloud, but you can't beat having things stored on devices. 32gb is fine limits for music and photos, bit when you factor in film and tv collections, (esp. with being able to play over hdmi ports), that storage space gets eaten up. Then again, do you really need 120gb on a phone?
