This is an ad campaign designed by Apple itself, based on this fact: stupidity has no limit.

people gets dumber and dumber day by day...1st of all, iphone is a so-called smartphone. it does not have many common things that pretty old phones could do...still peoples are nuts about iphone (anyways no point of arguing that now.)
the current issue is that Mr. X(the seller)is searching for a buyer with $999999 or whatever, he is actually in a mission to find the most dumbest person in the whole universe...... actually it a competition for who is the most dumbest person in the universe... hurry up guys gather money and take a part in the contest

I personally don't understand buying things like this, but this is more to do with collecting which some people are really into.
Same thing happens with other phones, I guess the difference is only with how much publicity it gets:

Sigh, we all know how this will end.
The bids are gonna increase to absurd values. But no one would come forward.
Then Apple's legal dept. will start the process of hunting down and butchering those responsible. It will also reclaim this device just to incinerate it.
But this device may be of value. See these factory prototypes do not contain any security and it is possible to analyse it more thoroughly. The old Sony Ericsson A1 & A2 platforms had security broken after brown and blue certificates were extracted from their protoype/dev versions.

Yes it's true, why would Apple spend US $ $999,999 on an old non functional device.
Imagine if this was Iphone 5, then Steve Jobs would call the Cops... Oooopppppss!!! he would instead probably call FBI.
Cheers!!
