LensMan, 30 Nov 2017I don't know why everyone is crying about a lower mAh batte... moreBy this logic we could have a Snapdragon S1 that will for sure consume less battery!

SD636 goes "up to 1.8GHz" according to Snapdragon's own site and the 625 goes "up to 2.0GHz" so I am led to believe that a 636 is in order as there would be no reason to underclock a 625

LensMan, 30 Nov 2017I don't know why everyone is crying about a lower mAh batte... moreTheoretically.....I am guessing you are not aware that most things theoretically rarely ever achieve such results....wait for the reviews and you will see that it should be slightly less than theoretical.

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2017Talk about a huge downgrade even the battery took a huge hit. I don't know why everyone is crying about a lower mAh battery without considering other factors.
SD 450 based on 14nm as per Qualcomm have 35% lower battery consumption as compared to SD 435 based on 28nm. So the processing and tasks for which the 435 needed 4100 mAh, 450 should be able to perform the same using 2665 mAh, at least on paper.
Plus the lesser heat should improve the condition further.
So theoretically, 450 and 3200mAh combo should give better battery backup than 435 and 4100 mAh combo. Taking into account, the larger screen size of Redmi 5, it should have comparable battery life, if not better, than that of Redmi 4.
And no one can deny the fact that Redmi 4 was a heavy device compared to its size due to that massive battery.
So, I don't see a problem here if Xiaomi decided to make the device slimmer without reducing the battery backup.
And to those concluding that the Xiaomi is getting greedy, discontinuing an older device and launching a newer one with better screen, processor and most importantly the cameras at similar price doesn't sound greedy to me.

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2017Talk about a huge downgrade even the battery took a huge hit. Yeah, they should just slash some 20% off the price as well, as users are gonna get 20% less battery life than what they would have got if it had the usual 4100 mAh battery.

I've always wished to see Snapdragon 625 on 720p screen for a solid performance and battery life combination.
But now I think, since 1.8 Ghz is mentioned, it could be Snapdragon 450 instead... I just think.

Xiaomi on the other hand, have definitely purchased loads of SD 625's I think. They're fitting it in many handsets.
Not even 630 or 660 is seen till now from Mi...

Sally, 30 Nov 2017This like the other model with bigger screen that now I be... moreYes, I don't see any point if the buttons are on the screen and it has such bottom bezel. But I belive there won't be capacitve buttons.
Now the only hope is the phone will be cheap.

It seems that this initial chip is Mediatek's P10, built on 28nm. If this is true, this is not ok.
If its SD 450 this would be a different story.
                      We'll see...

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2017Why battery back up is so low instead of 4100 mah which it ... moreBecause it's time to make money. That loss making spree by giving specs at much lower prices is over. Now since xiaomi has established itself as a value for money brand, they need to start earning money while people jeep thinking they are buying awesome specs. The build quality remains cheap though.

Dimensions of phone should have been kept under 145cm maybe with 5.5 or 5.3 inch display..
There are people who do not want big size phones . They like phones like Redmi4.
This means now there is only option in 5inch is Redmi 5A with budget specs

This like the other model with bigger screen that now I believe is the 5 Plus instead of the Note 5, has enough space at the botton for the capacitive buttons but it seems that have been removed in both. I'll be really disapointed if with that bezel they don't have capacitive buttons.
