People should consider Lenovo P2 too, I know it came out in late 2016 but it's endurance rating of 149 hrs beats all the listed phone. And since it was launched quite late in the year (November), some countries only received the phone in 2017.

If the Lenovo p2 were put in list even though it was made in 2016 it would be put at the top

Kiyasuriin, 02 Dec 2017was not tested. but I grabbed. and did the test of GSMArena... more190h? That's not impressive for a 10K mAh battery phone and by that logic, if you try to put 10K on xz1c it will have 400h+ battery endurance

AnonD-558092, 03 Dec 2017Yes, Exynos are much better, but it's not like they are Sam... morethat's right, however Chinese OEM's specially under FoxConn wants almost nothing from Samsung that's why they stick their a$$e$ with SD

AnonD-694886, 03 Dec 2017The reason why Mi Max 2 has worse endurance/mAh than Samsun... moreA7, not A3. It's a 5.7'' display. Yes, not the same tech, Yes not the same size, but if the screen goes bigger and the battery gets as big as the Max2, the A7 will show a better endurance rating. And let's be honest here, do you really think Xiaomi will put their programmers to enhance the battery usage for a 200-300 Euros device? I think Samsung did a great job here with the A7.

AnonD-66956, 03 Dec 2017a7 2017 has super amoled thats y it consumes less battery.Only with black content. And I assume the GSMArena test does not include ''One hour of displaying a black image''. And Samsung's UI and apps in TW Grace UX (the version used in the A7 during the test) has a LOT of white everywhere, the color that consumes the most battery on an AMOLED display, more than a regular LCD or DEL panel

AnonD-558092, 03 Dec 2017Okay, lets compare these scores.
Mi Max 2, with 6.44 scree... more0.2 much bigger? Really?
Besides amoled is better than iOS for battery life anyways.
I'd gladly save money anyways performance is in same category, so why spend 2.5 times on same thing with better camera?

AsusTech, 03 Dec 2017you seem to forget that Exynos is better than SD in battery... moreYes, Exynos are much better, but it's not like they are Samsung-exclusives (an OEM can get some E8895 or a 7880 all right, but you must pay on top of that about 20$!!! for each one just to use the modem, since it uses ''technology'' owned by Qualcomm (read: They patented the most basic yet essential component for mobile modems).

AnonD-558092, 03 Dec 2017True. Galaxy A7 with 3600mAh gets 115h. MiMax2 with 5300mAh... moreThe reason why Mi Max 2 has worse endurance/mAh than Samsung A3 is because of the screen. Mi Max 2 has a 6.44" LCD panel, which is less energy efficient than 4.7" AMOLED panel

AnonD-558092, 03 Dec 2017Okay, lets compare these scores. Mi Max 2, with 6.44 scree... moreSamsung is garbage regarding power optimisations especially with no flagship one's & so is Xiaomi. It's not only about display size but also type & Amoled does consume less than old Tianma LED on Maxes. I am still on year older Mi Max & considering it's; usability, performance & battery endurance even with an older 28nm SoC & smaller battery compared to Max 2 it still beats all of the this year's shown high competition.

So basically there's only Sony who is optimizing their phones (xz1 compact among top players with just 2700mah battery) while others are relying on bigger batteries without investing on software optimizations

Anonymous, 03 Dec 2017You didn't look at redmi note 4's score, you didn't take in... moreOkay, lets compare these scores.
Mi Max 2, with 6.44 screen:
126h for 5300 mAh. Average energy consumption of 42.06 mAh/hr.
Redmi Note 4, with big-ish 5.5 display:
119h for 4100 mAh. Average of 34.45 mAh/hr.
Galaxy A7, with big 5.7 display.
115h for 3600 mAh. Average of 31.30 mAh/hr.
So... Since all of them have 14nm chips... It's undeniable that with a more powerful chip (E7880) AND a bigger screen, yet a much smaller battery, the A7 is much more optimized than the Note 4. And I think that with a 1.47x bigger battery, yet much bigger 6.44 in display, the A7 could outclass the Mi Max 2.
