Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) will actually be called A8 (2018), Bluetooth filing reveals

05 December 2017
It looks like we're getting the A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) instead of A5 (2018) and A7 (2018).

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2017They should have been renamed to A6 & A6+ because their... moreAnd A6 would be correct if Samsung already used this naming scheme from the beginning.
Because we have the Galaxy A (2010), Galaxy Alpha (which would be the Galaxy A2), family Galaxy A 2015 (Galaxy A3), family Galaxy A 2016 (Galaxy A4) and family Galaxy A 2017 (Galaxy A5).

George, 06 Dec 2017A3 ???There are rumors that we will not have a Galaxy A3 (2018) (or Galaxy A8 Mini, if that name is made official).

And it will be unfortunate that they still come with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It was already for Samsung to have learned the lesson, and to launch them after a new Galaxy S.

Hopefully this story of Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ will not go ahead, and will remain Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018), and it still has a Galaxy A9 (2018).

Bonji, 06 Dec 2017Whatever they name it if it does not have 1.OIS enabled ... moreA series 2016 had OIS but 2017 does not. Instead they got water resistance. And jugding by how sad the A series actually is when you compare it to J series, maybe no OIS again. OR they will get OIS but the next J series phones are going to be cheaper and have OIS as well. J series is always getting the good stuff with low price. A series always gets outdated stuff with high price. A series only good in premium build quality and external looks. However A series does get better firmware updates than J series. J series never gets updates. Only one in six to seven months. A series is basically monthly for first year and 2-3 months on second year.

Should i buy this or xiaomi Mi 7 with Snapdragon 845 same 10 nm (LP) as 835 and build also for portable computers

yes.. they are basically calling them A8/A8+.. next year A9/A9+ but they still need to have the (2018) next to them because of already having an A8 and A9 when the phones came out as A3..A5..A7..A8.. and A9 every year. it makes sense to have them aligned with the note and S series i suppose.. although what happens from Galaxy S10 onwards.. do they keep going up?.. 11..12.. ??

Now waiting for Galaxy J8 (2018)

1.OIS enabled camera( some ultra rear camera just as good as s7)
                                    2. a autofocus enabled front camera.
                                    3. IP68 protection
                                    4. A processor that's at least as good as Snapdragon 660( comparable exynos)
                                    5. Better user interface
                                    4. At least 4gb ram
If not ,It's gonna sink in between the Xiaomis,Gionees, One plus, Oppo, etc etc.

I hate this naming scheme. Don't copy Sony please. It's confusing. Mini, Plus, Ultra, Premium and what have you.
