          I know it's easy to hate on iPad, but the Chinese makers are waay overboard with how much they copy things, including names for it to pass in the west.

          Pronunciation aside, Mi Pad is literally 1 letter away from i Pad, and it looks like one. That is insane not to consider it a trademark violation.

          I love Xiaomi but Mi Pad, Notebook Air, Notebook Pro, seriously? :-D

                    They didn't steal the name, the appropriated a trademark from a line of products that had been discontinued for 6 years due to poor sales. That's not being a "copycat". The Linksys iPhone was even a completely different type of product, and had zero popularity.

                    You do understand what being a "copycat" means, right?

                      Apple never "copied" iPad, and their appropriation of iPhone was not a "copycat" move, as the trademark was neither popularized nor had it been used for over 6 years. All of the Linksys iPhone devices had been discontinued.

                      It was a poor ethical move, but it was legally defensible (as seen by Cisco settling) and nothing like trying to use the name "Mi Pad" for a brand of tablets that blatantly try to gain sales by associating themselves with the vastly more popular and well-established "iPad".

                        Then comes the name which is 'miPad' vs. 'iPad' - so that's a one letter difference. Just like fake products are named Adibas, Mike, Lacroste, etc. - these sound very similar to the original product.

                        Depending on the country where these devices are sold, the 'i' in 'mi' can be pronounced either as 'ee', 'aye', 'ei', etc. so what happened here is actually the correct thing to do.

                          What nonsense I just read? If you can't see or hear difference between Mi and i, you pretty much need to call yourself stupid. I can't beleive Apple won

                            Mi pad sounds like my pad which sounds like i pad and therefor its illegal? And this is no joke? Hope Apple loses 99.% of its stock market value by the end of 2018.

                                So over the course of a full year, you maybe get maybe 5-10 errors on Apple devices, while on Chinese devices you get 150-200 errors at least. Even more.

                                So yeah, my point exactly.

                                If you also consider the fact that a device's usage life should be at least two years, then it's 10-20 errors in Apple devices and at least 300-400 errors on Chinese devices over the course of their intended usage life.
