The court, with more experience and knowledge about trademark law than you will ever have, ruled that they look too similar and could be pronounced too similar. It's not the first time Xiaomi has shamelessly copied Apple to profit from Apples brand.

And I hope they dont go bezeless completely or only certain models while others maintain minimal but needed bezels.
They will probably be one of my only brands of choice come 2019 or 2020. Unless because of the aptex that they eventually remove the headset jack as well.
They need to wake up and stop ruining themselves.
They could be rivaling Samsung head on for major tech and top spots in mobiles but they make many foolish decision. Whether out of the foolish idea that cutting certain corners saves money in the long run when in reality it only helps in the short term and consistently gets worse in the long run. Or just simply thinking they dont need something like standard features or global release.

The only ones that need to realize anything here are people like you. And that is that there is nothing remotely similar to ipad in that and that apple is over stepping their boundaries.
But money talks more than logic or right from wrong.

If you don't uphold your trademarks legally, you lose them. That's one thing everyone here needs to realize. This isn't being "petty", it's a major legal requirement if Apple want to protect their trademark, and prevent it from becoming a generic term.
Tablet or Tab is the word for these devices, not Pad. Mi Pad is a quite obvious attempt to profit off of the iPad trademark. They could just call it Mi Tab, and it'd be fine. Or make up a brand name of their own, like Mi Slab or Mi Leaf.
