I passed on the Lollipop upgrade, and I'm darned glad. I've heard horror stories. I don't see a need for anything more, for a very long time. Cheers!!

LOL.. as long as essential apps still works there is no need to upgrade to the latest version.. For me less update is better.. Only update when it is needed AND truely stable.. Not update to add some gimmicky feature I will never use.. Not weekly minor fix but at the same time introducing new bugs.. You buy a phone to USE it not to update it ALL the time.

My 2 years old+ Xiaomi Mi 4c rocks with Nougat 7.0! Hoping it'll get official Oreo 8.0/8.1 even tough it's near impossible XD. But hey! There's Custom ROM!

RickGH, 12 Dec 2017I started on 2.1 Eclair, but never kept any of those devices.I started on Android 1.6 with a Moto DEXT.
                  Then went Moto Milestone.
                  Then went Nexus One.
                  Then HTC Legend.
                  Then Samsung Galaxy S.
                  HTC Desire Z.
                  Then Galaxy S2.
                  Then Samsung NOTE.
                  Then HTC One X.
                  Samsung NOTE 2.
                  Nexus 4.
                  Samsung Galaxy S4.
                  Sony Xperia Z1.
                  LG G2.
                  Samsung NOTE 3.
                  Nexus 5.
                  Samsung Galaxy S5.
                  Sony Z3 Compact.
                  Samsung NOTE 4.
                  TCL Idol 3.
                  Nexus 5X.
                  Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
                  LG V20.
                  LG G6.
                  Samsung Galaxy S7.
                  Samsung Galaxy S8+
                  LG V30.

I still have most of the devices. This list excludes some Nokias, Blackberrys and iPhones.
Can you guess which is my current daily driver?

...out of all the devices, each device had something unique I liked about it.
The Note 3 had the best screen for a very long time, and still holds up great today.
The LG V30 had the best rear camera (ultrawide), I never even used the regular one.
The front-firing speakers of the Sony handsets were surprisingly useful.
The modding community from Nexus side is unbeatable.
The symmetrical design of the TCL Alcatel Idol 3 was great to experience.
Whereas the slim bezels of the LG G2 were a godsend.
The IP68 ingress protection of the S8 is fantastic.
Whilst the sturdy construction of the LG G6 is amazing.

I have a Galaxy Y S5360 which runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3.6. It still can run WhatsApp. That's not my primary device though, obviously, but it was the 1st Android phone that I had. Used it primarily from 2012 to 2015 until I got a new phone from a lucky prize.

Yup, I was an early adopter.....

And there are some things in it (such as the Gallery and the Music app), which still look more visually pleasing and intuitive that the latest apps in Oreo.

Google must give gifts or privileges to Marshmallow users, Marshmallow's greatest percentage figures are remarkable, rewards could be patch updates on low end android marshmallows, Google Assistant, survey by Google on marshmallow user and some other special features on marshmallow users.
