Kangal, 19 Dec 2017Well, they can do two versions: 1) Axon 8 Pro = $800, F... moreBad idea, the axon 7 had a sd820 and cost 399 at its release, so a sd636 would be a huge disappointment, especially for 500$. And they should stick with the mini name and call the better one simply axon 8.
The 7 mini had a 617 and cost 250$, this would be a price increase of 250$, way too much. And they should leave it at a similar size to the mini.

For the pro version, just call it axon 8 and it should cost max. 500$. Keep 16:9 is possible, and don't slim down the bezels in sake of sacrificing the speakers. You know how hard it is to make a 85% screen-to-body ratio, the iPhone x and the essential phone don't even have one.
And where do you see the space for 2 beefy ff speakers on one of these phones? Nowhere.
And the worst thing, do NOT downgrade the screen to 1080p, a more power efficient soc and a bigger battery are good enough to provide good battery life. Turst me, I had the op3t for a while and 1080p PENTILE is not pleasing for the eye.

Flossy420, 19 Dec 2017And charge you 700$ Yeah, great idea The more features an... more There is an old saying: more money; more problems. In the case of the expensive Pixel 2 problems keep surfacing, and, the more expensive Pixel 2 XL even more problems keep rearing their heads.

When I got Nougat on my Axon 7, the video recording became capped at about 10 minutes whereas I used to record 30 minutes of video regularly without problem before the update. Wonder how Oreo will further affect the phone.

We need ambitious Flagship Killers to wake all the consumers up that we don't need to spend $650 and above for a Flagship phone. I want a Flagship phone that costs like it was almost 10 years ago; Somewhere around $300 - $500.

The more features and upgrades you add, the costlier it gets especially with water resistance and a camera like the pixel 2

Love the Community, 19 Dec 2017When OnePlus fails, ZTE Axon will save the enthusiasts on t... moreNo, we need ZTE to make the Axon 8 with a traditional 16:9 display and shave the bezels down to a 80-85% Screen to Body ratio. Size wise, either a (medium) 5.2 inch or a (large) 5.7 inch is best... but anything in-between is fine as well. This should make the phone smaller than the S8 and Note8, whilst delivering the same screen size.

And they should upgrade the screen to 1080p, that way its super-sharp but still easy on the CPU, GPU, RAM... and sips energy to provide a 3 day battery life.

This would require a nice beefy 4,000mAh battery and an OLED screen. Fingerprint reader can be embedded in-screen, and the Dolby Atmos quadDAC can be kept with those front-firing stereo loudspeakers. If there's one place to cut corners, its the camera. Let's downgrade that to a single-camera like the Google Pixel2, which has the best performance at the moment, and stay away from dual-cameras.

Other things to make note: keep the 3.5mm aux port, just leave it on the bottom like the S8.
Ingress Protection of IP68 seems mandatory.
Sturdy aluminium is better than fragile glass body, wireless charging is worth giving up. Unless they can make it charge wirelessly through the front display/glass portion of the phone instead of the back (?).
A symmetrical design of the front and sides, to use the phone in any orientation would be neat.
DualSIM and microSD can be nixed, just make sure it supports all the major LTE Band frequencies and has a fast UFS storage with adequate capacity (64GB or more).
And skip the mid-range QSD 835 chip, and instead opt for the high-end QSD 845 SoC.

When OnePlus fails, ZTE Axon will save the enthusiasts on the budget. I hope Axon 8 keeps all of the features while it's 2:1 side bezelless like the Nubia Z17 and retains dual Dolby Atmos speakers.
