Considering Google's malicious treatment of user privacy data by sharing with the NSA/US government, collecting private data and selling to advertisers and using our phones and other devices as geographical /map calibration tools I can safely say:
NO OREO DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR DATA FROM THE BIG GUYS

What's the point when the majority of Android are on Kitkat+Lollipop? Google should just stop announcing every new Android releases, and just do silent updates (ala Google Chrome).

HAL is bit of an hell (in a good way). Suppose your protection is on & reset the device to give away or to sell it. After resetting, you have to restart & enter the security PIN/Pattern or log in to the Google account it was on before reset. Unless you do this, you cannot use the device. Pretty neat feature.

It's also worth noting the Oreo update pushed to my Nexus 6P last week sent it into a permanent bootloop 12 hours later. Google refuses to replace it, saying it's out of warranty. I've found many other Nexus users on social media who faced this problem too.

Have they implemented some way to protect our data from Google, Facebook and the other major data sweepers?
