No one is talking about the Galaxy S II. We're talking about the old Galaxy S, which is currently available at a rather attractive price point.
Haven't seen it for 270 yet, though, either... more like 300+.

I really don't know where you guys get the idea from that the phone is 270 euro's
I work for a mobile phone company.(not to be named)
You show me a store that sells it for 270 and I will buy 2 just to make a big profit from that .

The Galaxy S starts at €300-320 and there is no guarantee you get one of with an AMOLED screen in Europe. Also, many Galaxy S users are plagued with GPS problems.
The Xperia Ray has a SOC that is roughly comparable to the Galaxy S in terms of performance. The Ray's screen is smaller but has a slightly higher resolution. The Ray's camera is better.
In terms of hardware, it's not that much of a difference, but the better camera, the more compact size of the Ray and not having to worry about GPS problems makes the Ray the more attractive phone, in my opinion.
Price shouldn't be hugely different. €369 on Amazon preorder means that you will be able to buy it for less elsewhere, once it has become widely available. I expect the Ray to end up maybe 10% more expensive than the Galaxy S, which would be OK, all things considered.

WAY too expensive, look at the xperia neo ( named xperia kyno in France ) 399€ with a bigger screen and a hdmi port.

With almost the same specs, this ray will be a great phone. If you compute its PPI (pixel per inch), its very near to 300, while the arc did not come near 250 due to its screen size. Come on, this phone is a great deal

This is like the only android phone that would probably feel fine in the pocket. The closest thing so far is the htc gratia/aria but its too thick and has poor resolution.

samsung wave s8500 is far superior than this phone and it got out one and half year ago. sony ericsson is way behind

Size is perfect for pocket. However, it is more expensive than I expected. I was thinking about ~400 USD. If it is more than $500, I might go for the next-gen iPhone.
