I don't think Nokia 4 is ever gonna happen 'cause Nokia does not have a number '4' in their portfolio.

Offcourse you can see review whether it is having any permanent problem which is not acceptable for you. Nokia 1 will come with android go which is good for entry level phone. Also Nokia 2 users are happy as they are not made for high end games just for limited usage whatsapp, chat etc. with a massive 2+ days battery and better build quality then any other phone with same or less range of it

At first, HMD said in somewhere 4th Quarter of 2017. "We will not release Nokia 4 because number 4 is a death number".

In reality: They had no choice but to release Nokia 4 soon in order to keep the market share stability for low mid range phones.

If Nokia 1 will be something like 4.5 inch to 4.7 inch then there is a point. But when just another low resolution 5 inch screen then I don't see the point. There are market for better hardware for budget range. I have over 4 year old lumia 520 still in use and works well on w8.1

For me stock vanilla android means nothing. I don't need up to 100 euro phone to last me over a year or two. For 200 euro I would like to have some quality. I should wait a bit and see what Xiaomi and Huawei come out this year 2018 whit the trend of less bezel in the front and price up to 250 euro. For these I expect them to last 3 years or more if lucky.

Nokia isn't exiting anymore. When 520 come out it was special and decent hardware for the price and competition at that time. Now we get over priced brand phones with stock vanilla android and nothing special feeling to them. As boring as the rest of the budget phones with unknown names on them made in China.

We need a compact phone with thin bezel and body size not more then a 520 had with it's large bezel over 4 inch screen. It would pack in 4.7 inch for sure and some decent camera in the back for something under 200 euro and it would be special and interesting and people who want a small budget phone can have one. 2GB ram 720p screen 18:9 something at least SD430 or SD620 in it and something 16GB rom with 3.5mm jack flash for camera sd card for 128GB battery something 2000mAh , 119.9 x 64 x 9.9 mm

            (YES! 9!
FROM NOKIA 1 to NOKIA 9!!)

Nokia will never have a “4” in the name of the phone. Remember the old nokia phone never had a model starting with the number 4.
Guess the prononciation of the number “4” sounds similar to “Death” in Chinese.

Near stock Android is a good alternative. Make it as stock at possible. Add few more features. Few removable first party apps.

TheGoldenMellifluous, 01 Jan 2018Well to spoken the truth , both stock / vanilla Android and... moreI'm a first time user of Android OS. (Switching from Windows phone) using Nokia 6. Stock is great to use. Don't know whether it is inferior or superior to other Android UI. Tried Samsung's UI felt nothing special about it. HMD can add its own custom features on top of the stock UI instead creating completely new UI. Only concern is Performance should not be degraded.. Otherwise don't have any issues with stock UI..

Why don't Nokia use numbering segmentation like it was?

                    1 for essential
                    3 for youth
5 for active / rugged phone
                    6 for business
                    7 for fashion / experimental
                    8 for exotics
                    9 for ultimate

Must be great to implement those kind of segmentation on today's smartphone

No good YouTube reviewer has recommended Nokia 2. I don't think they will even bother looking at a Nokia 1.

Nokia under HMD Global choose stock over custom as they stick to its integrity to old Nokia : "Pure (Android) , Up to Date , Secure , and Always With Nokia" . Possibly custom Android on Nokia on your perspective could have more features and other stuffs that stock Android couldn't have till available to them . But with HMD choose stock , we can't blame them tho .

Anonymous, 01 Jan 2018stock android is better, hate those shitty ios copycat UIsThose are actually not copycats. Previously they were but now they provide much extensive feature set with quality inbuilt apps more than stock android and ios and extensive customization. Only drawback is slow android updates.

More manufacturer means better competition. Just because nobody in reality uses a Nokia today, doesn't mean they can't have the chance to try again.
Everyone makes mistakes, even Samsung. But instead of turning away, we gave them another chance and now they're succeeding at everything they are doing right now.
