Anonymous, 08 Jan 2018So that's why everyone will receive a software update in or... moreIt's rather simple really.
One part of Spectre can not be patched away in any way. This part of Spectre is found in many/all OoO chips based on the ARM architecture and pretty much all Inten processors still in use, as well as some IBM server chips.
Then there is a second Spectre bug that may or may not be patchable through software. It also affects the same processors and could possibly affect some/all AMD processors, but for AMD processors it requires a very specific bios setting to be affected, a setting normally not turned on.
Meltdown is a different beast. It affects all Intel processors since 1995 and is a far more serious threat to safety. Going by Apple's actions, one would guess their A-xx SoCs may be vulnerable too. The problem with Meltdown is that it's a gaping wound the size of a football and they now patch it with a small bandage, only covering a small part of the wound, hoping it will stop the bleeding.

The logic is hard to understand.

If Apple stated this, they are lying , because theres no way OS (Software) Architecture can protect you from CPU (Hardware) design flaw.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2018Apple claims their devices are not affected by this because... moreApple can claim a lot. Meltdown can be (partially) patched in the hopes they won't find other ways to abuse the bug meanwhile. Spectre is different, one part can be sorta patched, the other can not be patched, no matter the OS. So to say they are not vulnerable due to the OS is total BS.

Apple claims their devices are not affected by this because of their OS architecture.

Exynos chipsets aren't all affected, it depends on the model, so till now, the Exynos verson of S8 seems to be unnafected, or I simply didn't find informations on the internet which would confirm it's other way around. Just it's confirmed, both S9 versions will be affected.

All those comments in the past that their iPhone was so much more secure than any android device, and then this. Just so funny.
And all the people that got themselves a phone with SD625, gratz, you now own one of the most secure devices you can get.
In all, Apple particularly having go patch against Meltdown on their iOS devices is pretty painful. It's the most nasty bug of them all and the patch can have serious performance drops.

option 1. these hackers really exist and they broke governments Zero Day acces to all devices which we all know is real
option 2. its a fake news and virus has been made by corporations agenda and will be uploaded by sowtfare developers on some devices to show it really exist to force people and companies to buy new devices.
