How stupid is a phone like this with a 1ghz processor? Obviously the price will NOT be on par with low ends from other companies.

And that doesn't chang the truth that multi-core CPU is better for multitasking than single-core CPU.

@eddman
Also remember that different SoCs usually place different GPUs and other accelerator.

AnonD-1131, 18 Jul 2011I know. Nokia used an older CPU on their S^3 devices but N... moreThis point of view is totally valid
In fact, Nokia will rule the "basic" phone market, since their lower spec phones will have 1 GHz proc, not even Samsung, LG have cheap phones with this specs.
So, Nokia maybe will not lead the high en market, but they will control the base one with powerful basic phones..
In fact only 13% of the actual buyers get an Smartphone and the rest will gat any phone below 250 dlls.
This is a wise move, if you can make affordable phones with cheap prices you will get better sales...

@Laurynas... It isn't true at all... it depend on the software too (the OS and the Apps need to be coded properly to take advantage of the multi-core CPU's)

Nokia's not giving these phones 1GHz for multitasking purposes, but for browser performance. Have you used the browser on the Touch and Type devices? It's close to unusable.

For a fair comparison install a mod on both phones, same mod, overclock atrix to 1.2 GHz and then compare. You'll see the difference isn't that much.

For example Motorola ATRIX use the same CPU as Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100), but we can see difference! Why? Beacause of different SoCs. Motorola ATRIX use Tegra 2 SoC, Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100) use Exynos 4210 (a.k.a. Orion) SoC. Different SoC = different architecture = different performance.

[deleted post]imma C7 user too, but this wont make me angry or jealous of the new nokia 1Ghz lineup, more like a worry how the bat3 backup would be like, i.e would the extra proc be a good thing when its come to general everyday use? or nokia new symbian line up will suffer the same prob like android based phone.....resource hunger monster

Laurynas, 18 Jul 2011@2toyzki "1Ghz cpu and 512mb ram for a NON-MULTITASKIN... moreS-E X10, IS single core and NOT even 1ghz and IS multitasking.
SGS1, is single core, is 1ghz and is one of the fastest multitasking phone around still.
Good combination of architecture with a modern OS, and you can get usable multitasking on a mobile device.

Nokia's model numbers are getting worse. People in the trade can't follow it, not to mind customers.
Whoever names Nokia's phones needs to be sacked.
C3-01.5 etc make no sense.
Bring back n series, e series etc.
