22 July, 2011
LG was the company that started the dual-core party, but you may be surprised to hear that it doesn't have a single smartphone on Gingerbread yet. Until now that is, as the update for the US-only T-Mobile G2x...

Hello everyone,

I have updated my software to 2.3.3 yesterday. Please visit below LG website and follow the instructions. If you have good internet speed, it should take less than 20 minutes.

Just got off the phone with Tmo technical support and they advised they have stopped sending the update over the air; although you can still get it through LG manually after jumping through hoops.

The techy said they are still having too many crashes with 2.3 and until they can get it worked out with LG that GB is off the market for now.

I spoke with LG and they advised much of the problem is the Android Market, or better put, Google failure to police the software being put on the market. So Google has pulled about 72 apps......of the over 350,000 apps currently on it.

Im on my 3rd G2X by the way......what a lemon.

After a LG G2X customer went to the court in USA, the very poor LG service waked up and rollout the update just for G2X (T-Mobile) customers. But what about the other phones???
Still LG doesn't care their customers....

First Android 2.3 for LG? The Optimus P500 has had the 2.3 update for so long and it doesn't count?

So I guess the update is still delayed for the o2x, dam you LG.

it really sucks as the O2X was out way earlier than G2X. but just to cool down the legal cases they hv in the US, they would rather update the G2X 1st rather than the O2X.... and i doubt that it will be a bug free update.... sad!

I this LG releases this update version due to the lawsuit. But I hear that still some issues are still happening. I think LG did not fix critical issues. LG tries to avoid this class action because I can only see the solution for this lawsuit. I also think LG tries to delay going to go to court, meanwhile they can keep updating the version to fix some critical issues. I hope that the T-mobile users should advertise or Facebook to spread how LG is not doing business correctly to customers. We should televise all over the world. LG should pay all users that they even knew these issues before selling this product.

An update might stop the rebooting, but it's unlikely that an update will stop the screen from bleeding light. This phone came out 1/2 a year after Gingerbread was released. It should've shipped w/Gingerbread.

i am a p970 optimus black owner i am totally in love with its nova display good phone overall my only gripes its os still running with froyo . hey lg you got a winner on optimus black its a mid range phone in terms of the price and if a 1ghz processor now is now classified as a mid range so be it ( dual core now is the benchmark for a high end phone)plus its nova display no bugs issues hey why dont you built on that it only needs a upgrade of gingerbread( i hope lg make a good gingerbread upgrade for the black because if not i will be really upset) like they promise, and hope they announce it soon because many likes the lg but the only turn off is the os .. well lg the incident on the g2x is a eye opener. i love my black p970 no problems at all nice screen powerful processor reasonably price only downside the os froyo everybody (htc, moto, sony ,samsung) is already have gingerbread and upgrading the phones that have froyo.. lg wake up the battle is being lost because of that late upgrade !!
