whatsapp, instagram are just biased towards apple.
even samsung & huawei has a bit of quality drop when uploading story/video on instagram, had some connection issue with whatsapp, occasional hang while scrolling at images on whatsapp, etc.

By lowering your own volume to about half or lower increases your microphone quality. Try asking the person you are calling if they hear you better if you lower your volume. This might be due to the microphone trying to cancel out any external noise but in doing so, cancels out your own voice as "noise". This is only a wild guess, but lowering your own volume helps my microphone quality to improve.

Mi 9 messenger video call camera not working. I am using MIUI12.5.6. it happening since I updated MIUI 12.5.5, but 12.5.6 still hasn't fixed.
Shame Xiaomai.
There are a bunch of users worldwide using Xiaomi devices and the company neglect to get it fixed.

I was so happy when I moved from Samsung to Xiaomi now I regret. All my photo archive on my WhatsApp are gone! Cannot make video calls, I will never buy a Xiaomi again.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Camera Failed and sending media in Whatsapp problem solved.
Removing and reinstalling Whatsapp did not help. Resetting permissions did not help.
What helped for me is :
Settings-Apps-Whatsapp- delete all data.
When starting Whatsapp again Whatsapp asks to confirm your phonenumber and permissions again. Then restore a backup and all works great again.
