"G6 is expected to be graced with the update in the first half of this year"
Doesn't mean by the end of June. We can get it in february and the LG statmant will still be true.

GoToSchool, 23 Jan 2018Can somebody explain why Android updates are so terribly sl... morethat is an easy question: each of the phone has a specific set of software design, software wise which has to be tuned in order to be accommodated on top of the pure android; you don't expect that boys like Samsung, LG or Sony to drop their interface in favor of stock android; also...features of the phone have been developed to function only in that specific interface; but...considering that each of the companies have thousands of employees, and several hundreds of software developers on their payroll, why push the update, which every owner of the G6 is entitled to, all the way to the summer? Have we offended LG so badly that we don't deserve any attention at all? Or are we just fools to still have faith in such companies that lie to their customers?

Cornel, 22 Jan 2018Why so fast? Take your time.Correct....Very few Mobile Manufacturers are favourable for Consumers to provide updates

Can somebody explain why Android updates are so terribly slow even from the bigger companies like Samsung, Sony, LG etc? Why should it take 4 months + in some cases to update their latest flagship phone? They have hundreds of programmers, engineers and testers working for them so i don't get it.

LG made realy good phones. But when it comes to user interface and updates, LG is damn slow. Its worst among all. They have abandoned the LG G4 user, still running on Marshmellow.

I'm still on Android 7.0 on my LG G6.
The last update was 1 November 2017 for a small security update. That's 54 days without any security updates, and a OS version that's 1.5 years old.

I have a V20. I despair of ever receiving Oreo. So, I just bought a Xiaomi MI A1 which costs $220 and comes with Oreo. Most of LG's customizations of Android are useless.

Alternatively you can just buy an iPhone and look forward to your downgrade later in the year when they down clock the processor and then graciously sell you a cheaper battery that still be overpriced.

If your timetable is that messed up, chuck 8.0 in the bin, and skip to 8.1.
Skip straight to 9 if that works

Line up your G6 update with what you are doing for the G7.

I'd take their statement with a grain of salt. They are notorious for being extremely slow on holidays. Just an example - LG announced they will release nougat update for the G4 a year ago and they never did (to date).

AnonD-723232, 22 Jan 2018You know, you can get overpriced devices that get timely up... more"Overpriced" depends on your point of view. You're suggesting people spend too much for their iPhones, likewise, there are people who probably think the G6 is overpriced, too.
