Ratman, 29 Jan 2018I believe this is a very nice feature to have. My iPhone 5S... moreHi Ratman,
Sometimes it's a case of re-calibrating your batter. Try the below and it might help
Charge iphone fully (Do Not Use While Charging), use phone until it shuts its self off, fully charge again (Do Not Use While Charging), do a warm reboot (hold on/off & home buttons until apple logo appears).
to keep the battery in top condition it is recommended that you do a full charge cycle at least once every 6 weeks, to do a full charge cycle drain battery down to 20% or less then give phone a full charge.
Hope this is of some help.

I believe this is a very nice feature to have. My iPhone 5S is nearly 4 years old, and I haven't replaced the battery yet. I cannot trust my battery indicator when it goes under 40% because I've had my phone shut down with over 35% battery left; alas, only iPhone 6 and up get this feature.
I think it sounds quite useful and I'd enable it if I could. But one cannot deny that it's very fishy. I hope they add the option, especially since I'll be buying a generic battery for my iPhone 5S (and will do so when my future iPhone X turns 4), and I don't want this thing to stay enabled because it found an off-brand battery.

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2018On the contrary, I think Apple will allow its users not to ... moreHave no idea. But last friday a customer came to my shop with completely frozen Iphone 7 plus and we speak about year old phone which still cost 900 eur with bigger disk space.
My chinese Lenovo Vibeshot never frozen and thats chinese phone for a 1/3 price.
I know bad luck sometimes happens but you wont expect it on a 800+ eur device so early.

how about using a better quality battery and bigger battery capacity instead of putting a user hostile "feature"? Android i had never shuts down because of low voltage. and i type this with my iPhone 6 Plus

11.3 beta 1 makes iphone se fast, like new fast but the battery drains fast, cant wait for the toggle for cpu speed on/off to be put on the next beta, i would rather want a days use of battery than a super fast phone, im not really using an iphone for games

However, it will flash a nag screen or disclaimer that the iphone would risk random shutdowns and ask the user to enable power management. The problem is how will users know if the shutdown is spontaneous and not some devious planned obsolescence version 2?

Despite you will have the option to not slow your phone via updates it turns out to do nothing and your phone still will be slow sluggish laggy like almost anything from apple.

What about implementing message "Your phone sucks, cause our batteries makes it shutdown unexpectedly, why not go to another brand?" Absolute nonsense with those messages and power management BS, only Apple can come up this those idiotic ideas and try to cover such a big thing and make it like it's nothing, believe that where they see you as complete sheep :)
