AnonD-468012, 28 Jan 2018Cool and Eficient : Snapdragon 625 APPROVEDNice, but I all the time I go for flagship hipset, simple it destroys chipset like 625 in performance and graphics, this is more important when efficiency. Exynos 8895 on S8 has more efficient manufacturing process they more powerful and makes phone last from 1 to 2 days on heavy browsing sessions. Obviously much more expensive, but if money is not an issue SD 835 exynos 8895 is indisputable rest is just not good enough

    Hopefully battery tech will improve, no matter how good CPU, GPU & AI, when out of battery your phone just junk

      A mobile devices do not need such powerful as desktop Pc.
      People want it to be more power efficeint and less heat.

      Do you know that...if the chipset can reach >3000 geekbench, this mean the chipset was powerful as
      pc Intel Core2 duo 8400 3ghz launch at year 2008.

      This pf C2D E8400 processor can play Crysis 3 if pair with decent 1 teraflop video card for 720p high texture quality.

      And now we have ip8 reaching 10000 score which mean
      crazy power jus for mobile used.( totally crazy)

      Do we need such powerful cpu just for mobile daily purpose?
      Please stop this maddnes chasing performance pc wannabe in mobile devices.
      We want mobile with longer battery performance.

      For the gpu side ...a less than 150 gflop gpu is more than enough to run all demanding games at 1080p decent quality..

      Why now chipset maker push the gpu power up to 600gflop?
      Do wee need 600gflop just to play games in size screen of hand?

        AnonD-468012, 28 Jan 2018Cool and Eficient : Snapdragon 625 APPROVEDIndeed, the SD625 is a very clear case of decent performance with great characteristics on cooling and power consumption.
        Sadly, most people want the highest performing cores, preferably many of them, with a massive GPU, all clocked as high as possible and still expect companies to make such chip to be cool and very power efficient. It just does not go that way.

        Also, going into the smaller fabrication nodes gives power efficiency bonuses, but it also makes the die of the chip smaller, making it more difficult to cool. Not too big an issue with a well balanced core that does not aim for too high clock speeds and to many instruction, but for the monster-cores people want, it is an issue. It makes cooling more difficult and more expensive.

          Bleh,soc's hit a platuea years ago.
          i still use my old htc hd2,complete with its mark 1 snapdragon 1ghz,in theory,a new generation multicore 835/845 should be 20+ times quicker/more [owerful than mark 1 snapdrogon,but their not.neither are they even close to being 5-10 more efficent.
          you can make figures show almost anything you want,real life use is a totaly different matter,no modern smartphone is as capable as the old htc hd2 is at being manipulated to do things it was never envisioned it would be asked to do,we have gone backwards,hd2,along with a [owered usb hub could be used as a true pocket pc,full keyboard,mouse,monitor etc etc,try it with a latest generation smartphone,try running x86 os's on a samsung 8,see what happens,if you can root it and unlock ALL the levels of security and shackles that "modern" devices have.
          If the figures actually meant anything in real life,and device makers hadnt locked out so much capability,an 835/845 soc device should be capable of running full windows 10 + programs at the same kind of performance levels as a mid range laptop,but it cant,we have gone backwards,chromebooks etc are being powered by 835 socs,we are being treated like idiots to make firms richer,thete should be no need for low/mid level laptops,things like the atrix and the new razor base should be standard fare by now,but capable of running full desktop os's and programs..
          The smartest thing about "smartphones" now are the company accountants at makers hq's !!

              Yep. Cooler chipset also means longer battery and other internals' lifespan.
