As a reference, for the Density Score the higher the better. And anything above 51 is "Perfect Score", Between a Score of 50 and 46 is an "Excellent Score". Anything between a Score of 45 and 41 is a "Good Score". Whilst scores between 40 and 36 is an "Average Score". Anything below 36 is considered a "Poor Score".
....in comparison to these current phones/poor performers:
4,000mAh / 162 x 77 x 8.8 mm = Density Score 36.44: Samsung Galaxy Note9
3,520mAh / 158 x 77 x 7.9 mm = Density Score 36.62: Google Pixel 2 XL

In 2019 I would rather hope the industry go towards this:
5.7inch - 4,000mAh / 150 x 75 x 7.9 mm = 45.00 Density Score
5.2inch - 3,500mAh / 135 x 70 x 7.9 mm = 46.88 Density Score
4.7inch - 3,000mAh / 125 x 60 x 7.9 mm = 50.63 Density Score
....but I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery!

Both last/lasted a full day of heavy use. I can already. tell the Note 8 battery is deteriorating though, even after just 4 months.

Have a Nokia 5 and somehow I am disappointed with the endurance. Felt like my Xperia Z3 with a 800 series SD CPU should eat up more battery than a 400 series but I still can't last through a whole day.

I always felt the N4 and S5 had great battery life, and found the Note 8 to be practically the same.
I do pretty much the same things for the same time on the Note 8 and the battery life is exactly where I thought it would be.
I'd replaced the batteries in both the S5 and Note 4 three times though over the 18 months I owned them so that helped.

1st answer: its the Endurance Rating based on... moreThe test(s) are wrong for a far more fundamental reason. They do not account for changes in usage patterns therefore the results are very specific and not very informative.
They were somewhat informative in 2010, less so in 2011, by 2016-17 they are almost completely useless.
In short, most of the things people do is/are CPU/GPU heavy, none of those tests are. Secondly screen on use has quadrable in the meantime. A 3-hour SoT could make you almost two 2 days in 2010, a 6-hour SoT phone in 2017 can hardly make you the day. There is a reason why the subjective feel of battery life tells us that phones last *less* these days.
Batteries have not increased in capacity on pace with the increase in usage times and to add insult to the injury, the one feature which would allow for a full day phone in 2017 in a practical manner (carrying a spare), is no more...
Subjective battery life is less than ever. Most phones don't make the day anymore, unless one is to make a light use. That is a tragedy! Replaceable batteries should return, either that or 5000 mah batteries should become the norm. Then again people would buy anything , they accepted the falling battery lives for years now. There is a reason why most phones hardly make the day anymore...
