It's a shame, but I have to echo many on here...
How long has this phone been out? It's taken user pressure to get this far - it wasn't even going to happen...
This is why it's really important when looking for a new phone, you look at the company's software update record...
Motorola is by far the worst, with some disgusting UK decisions, but I have to say SonyE is not far behind..
Until they get their acts together on this, people will continue to flock to Sammy who are now spot-on with their updates...

The update will add native tethering/hotspot, Apps to SD, and Adobe flash support

Only unbranded phones!
Unbrand it first. I don't knowany carriers that will release it. Why? Because tedying and approving software is costsome.

I think its awesome that they're still releasing an update 1.5 years after the release. Not very many companies that actually listen to their clients.

hi guys thanx for your update for xperia x10 but what about the flash player and other features can we play the gameloft games in x10 after 2.3.3 and the flashplayer and google live chat only working with 2.3.4 so what about this 2 cool features SE.........reply we r geting flash player or not.............thanx again

An updated post will be made this Friday on the SE Product Blog when baseline goes live in Europe at 0900 UTC. The rest of the regions will follow shortly at the beginning of week 31. I feel confident that the community will enjoy the new features this release will unlock. What are you referring as «an out of date update?» Gingerbread is very up to date, specially 2.3.4, not many machines running it, and even more advanced phones than the Arc haven't got it yet, like Optimus 2x so an X10 running 2.3.something (I am not sure if this is actually 2.3.2 as the Arc originally had or 2.3.4, but both are pretty good) is pretty sweet! Even if there were much more advanced releases.
Think of this, is there any other company giving updates after 1 and half years have gone since the release of the phone? Any other company as released 3 other updates as they did for X10? And to sweeten the deal, this one was expected to come in the Fall and it came much earlier.

Of course no. You aren't stuck at 2.1 you just have to wait until it is available to you in particular. It can depend on country or on carrier.
Just like my Arc, there was already the update to some parts of the world but I had to wait about 1 or 2 weeks until it was available here.
