25 January 2018
A similar thing happened several weeks back when an inaccurate Tweet accused OnePlus of sending usage data to a server online.

That is why I hate Chinese manufacturers.
Besides, I think those phones are used for mining secretly by OEM.

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2018Why the hate for Oneplus ? Their phones are amazing .Amazingly overpriced you mean? It was started to be excellent value for money phones. But now, they are trying to be like another OPPO.

What I can't understand is why did OnePlus allow the beta for the OP5 to be released with the same clipboard "spy wear" issues as the OP3/3T, if it's not genuine spy wear why not just delete the new clipboard app as no OP5 users were calling for a new clipboard app? Was it down to lazy soft wear development or a more sinister reason?

You know what? Let them buy those china replika brands. It's their bank accounts, or worse, their parents bank account.
Meanwhile, hackers on the dark web are rubbing their hands for new profit. And hey, let them, they deserve to make profit out of the ignorance and limited IQ of others. At least those hackers studied a LOT to have that knowledge.
People were warned. If they choose not to believe and still use this brand, it's ALL ON THEM.

MrElectrifyer, 27 Jan 2018How about none of the above?China, US, Russia. Those nations would do anything to dominate the world, everything else is dust and sand for them. Avoid their governments at any cost

All cheap china phones have spyware. That's what I was talking about for whole time, and that's why for example Huawei is banned in ton of countries...

They are cheap for a reason. And if you think that company which exploits their employees like slaves will treat you any better - you are a fool!
They will steal and sell your personal info, you will be monitored, and they will empty your bank account too if they get a chance.
Yet, you paid for bad quality device, overlooking it's every flaw just because it's cheap...

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2018Spyware, Credit Card Theft, now Clipboard Theft, Whats next... moreExactly. And chinaphone fans think they made major discovery by buying cheap phones...

Man in the worldwide countries secret agencies such as FBI, CIA, KGB NID and hell lot more will do anything to have all the data they could colected.
They call it a defense against terrorism.
But who the hell knows for what else purpose they will use your data.
Agencies, companies and all the people behind have no shame of doing anything fraud to support their goals.

This "mystery" were solved onReddit for a long time ago. The reason is war between Taobao (Alibaba) and WeChat. You can't copy link to Alibaba services into WeChat strictly because if spam limitation, so OnePlus servers converting it to appropriate links WeChat accept. That's all.
Anyway any hidden feature tied to personal data is always can be dangerous to hack it or to use for spyware. We all know how bad this company in questions of security. And I'm sure - in future we will hear a lot of "interesting" things about this Chinese company.

The mere existence of such code is enough to accuse One Plus. The apology that "it is not active" is clutching at straws.
