Vodafone UK dumping the upcoming GSM HTC EVO 3D

Voda UK, well one look in their stores says it all. The handsets are usually much more expensive than their direct competitors, especially on PAYG. How can Tesco sell their phones on their network at a lesser price? I just don't get that. The range of phones is poor compared to what it used to be. At one time Voda always had some special offers in the UK stores that tempted, not so sure I see that anymore? Get an Evo 3d from ASDA Direct for £250 (SIM FREE), stick ya Voda SIM in, simple.

1) Vodafone wanted to p... more3, and not only on phones. Inevitably, the fad of stereoscopy(*) quickly starts to fade away ...again, just like it happened every single time during numerous past occasions it was pushed on people.
*which is not even the only way to convey "3D" and IMHO not the best one. Of course the marketers of stereoscopy try hard to hijack the "3D" label, and too many consumers are willing to play their game.

AnonD-977, 30 Jul 2011Nope, Voda AU started rolling out an entirely new network s... moreVoda are not building any new towers, they are simply using (not roaming!)Telstra towers over an agreed apon number of square km's (about 1/4 to 1/3 of Telstra's current covergae area) So their coverage is still only going to be where they think they can make the most profit (metropolitan areas mainly) and with their merger with 3 Mobile Australia they effectivley doubled their number of customers without increasing network capacity so even people in the same house have trouble 'connecting' with each other now = VodaFAIL

They only roam on Telstra in rural Tasmania and parts of Victoria.
They are replacing all the old Nokia-Siemens and Ericsson equipment with Huawei.

will this only be coming to carphone warehouse sim free? im on orange and due an upgrade, will i be able to upgrade to this through carphone warehouse??

This phone is being released in September in Australia by Telstra, which should mean HSDPA 850 capability being added as Telstra uses the 850Mhz band for it's Next G network, no word on price yet though

3D on a mobile device is a flop. I know, I know it's sad but don't cry. The Nokia Sea Ray is just around the corner and will be available at Vodafone UK. It's one gorgeous WP device!

there has be alot of problems regarding the recpetion of the phone which is such a setback...because that thing LOOKED REAL...

I have a theory (or theories...)
1) Vodafone wanted to put their bloatware on it like they did the Sensation and HTC gave them the middle finger (which I hope is true)
2) HTC are just gonna take too long for the phone (allegdly it's out in September, bit this has never stopped Voda. The 9105 was due in April last year and hit stores 3 months after!)
3) As pointed out, perhaps there is just a general lack of interest in 3D phones....
