My first phone was Galaxy Y so it's camera wasn't really good, and I was a teen so I didn't care much about photography. Then I had Acer Z520 which was an awful phone with awful camera, I dare to say that Galaxy Young had pretty much as powerful camera as Z520.
When I got the A5 2017 I was amazed what it's camera can do, compared to my previous phones. Then opportunity appeared, and I gave away my A5 2017 to a family member who needed a new phone, and bought myself and S8. And I didn't regret that decision.
Now the S9 will have even better camera than S8, but I don't see need for an upgrade, atleast not till 2019 or 2020, because S8 camera is really good, and it will take me a while to fully utilize this camera. It has many options and effects I yet have to learn, and phone itself has tons of features like "text extraction" and abillity to make GIF-s out of anything you watch, and I know all those features, and I did try them out, just I sometimes forget about them, or simply don't get need to use them, but they sure do come handy sometimes.

In my opinion, I will gain more by watching videos, and learning about photography, than investing in new tech every year. By using my time to get to know more about photograhy instead of getting to know my new phone, if you understand what I mean, it'll benefit more long term.

As a free runner and explorer I love wilderness, and photography plays a big role in this. So you can say one thing brings the other with me.
Since i got Z5 though i started taking things more seriously with photography. I had no idea that phone photography evolved so much since 2009, but Z5 is so much better in photography. I watched many tutorials in youtube on mobile and general photography, so you can say I'm good at this.

S8 User, 02 Feb 2018That's like saying fast food is better than a fine restaura... moreYes agree. Tghe reason is Xiaomi have much less expenses compared to Samsung,
Samsung clearly missing people who know how to save money on uselles garbage like advertising which cost couple of billions worldvide etc.
And yes xiaomi is like an fastfood but in this case xiaomi is MC Donald the best fastfood company out there. I am glad i can honestly say it this way because its true.
Ye Samsung is like a 5* restaurant but lot of different spices can make the food disgusting and sometimes too much is just too much.

It's cheaper for a reason, the same reason why is a hamburger cheaper than a nice dish in a fine restaurant.

Denis Thomas, 02 Feb 2018it's awesome that you like photography! Keep it up :) Ju... moreWell, maybe I will be able to do better, just with lots of more practice. I honestly most likley just take photos for Instagram.

I try to hit the right angles and I take light and everything in consideration, but there are the times when you just see something, and you just want to catch that moment, and you have around 1-5 seconds to do so, or it's gone. And you just pull out the phone, double click to launch camera, point and shoot. And that's where those filters come handy, to edit a photo if you like, but I still always keep original photo aswell as edited one.
How long are you into photograpy?

imRGZ, 02 Feb 2018You expect a huge companies like Samsung and Apple to sell ... moreMan really?
For an affordable price samsugng can sell a lot more devices that they sell now.
Another example is that Xiaomi in my coutry here in Slovakia sells like hot cakes despite you dont see any advertising anywhere. No TV not even outside and here in Slovakia we are an advertising country. On every street on every wall every tall building there are some products which are pretty actual and works as advertising.
I guaratnee you that without this Samsung wont sell even half of its devices.
Also we can say advertising consumes most of Samsung money and thus we have the price.
Xiaomi dont need to do anything just to open the shop or offer their products to casual mobile providers and they sells like hot cakes like fresh bananas on discout.
Nothing else to be said about this.

You are saying you are capable of buying flagships, but in reality you aren't, so all these comments 'S8/Note8/iPhoneX not worthy at their respective pricings and must be priced at 600USD, so that i can buy them' Sorry to say. Samsung's OLEDs are great screens, hence being used by OP5T and iPhone X. And their cameras are top notch and lot better than whats offered in mid range phones. Any cameras pics looks great on big fhd screens but compare the pics of your worthy phones and flagships in proper manner, then you will get to know big differences between them. iPhone X is unworthy at 1000USD for what it gives, accepted but Note8 is comparably lot better for what it provides to the end customer.

Lenovo would have made a license agreement with Dolby to use their Atmos technology in their phones. Apple bought OLEDs from Samsung, they didnt just shoplift from Samsung and used them for their X. If someone uses someothers tech, it doesnt become that it is someone's tech. They may have licensed it or bought it from the other brand who makes it. You are just here to bash big brands flagships. First learn how tech companies work and from where they source their products from and who owns what. Nokia used Carl Zeiss lens and no Carl Zeiss doesnt belong to/owned by Nokia. Lenovo and Dolby would be laughing at your words 'Dolby is Lenovo's Tech'. LOL.

And yeah, skilled photograph will definitley benefit more with S8 than any Xiaomi product. I personally learned how to take photos which are good even without filters or other software customization, even though it indeed comes handy.

I dont know what you guys moaning about, but it's not the camera that makes a good photograph. Its the guy behind the camera, and the software he uses after the shot has taken. If s8 has a great camera (which it has), it's nothing if it's owner is some teen that still takes pictures and videos holding the phone vertically like a noob.
I have an xperia Z5, and I have beaten regular dslr owners in photographic abilities with it. Because as you just learned, it's not the camera alone that makes a great photo (fact).

Rest is same CPU same GPU and other differences are not worth 400 eur.
So i rather part with the camera.
Anyway why to take selfies with camera if someone can shoot you with your camera if you ask him nicely.
I am not trying to find excuses i just dont like to waste money despite i have enough to afford it.
I usualy buy anything i like and its worth the price. This is not that case. Like apple X for example.

It would be awkward to take selfies in public with it, and it's not really convenient.
I respect your opinion but it's like you are looking for excuses why Xiaomi is better than Samsung, so just chill. It's OK to have Xiaomi, but Samsung is better and that's why it costs more (logic)...

And to be honest for a 400 eur i rather take Mi6 and for other 400 a proffesional camera from Nikon or Cannon. If i would like much better camera.
I kow its 2 devices compared to one S8 but 400 eur camera does quintillions times better photos than S8 could ever imagine.

It's maybe not worth to you, but if someone likes to watch HD videos or if someone needs a good camera for Instagram it'll matter to them greatly and they will pay extra.

Xiaomi can be cheap since they also make money from selling your data, and they barley pay their employees and finally then don't research and develop anything on their own. They just copy, and people who buy their products are supporting slavery and are also giving away their personal informations - great deal indeed...

S8 User, 01 Feb 2018Sorry but stop saying that price difference is currently 40... moreman bit more is 400 eur thus the difference between Mi6 when released and S8 which cost 800 when released. You cant compare same phones now because Xiaomi was selling for such low price they couldtn go much lower instead of S8 which you can get for 550 right now when you know where.
Why the phone did not cost 550 eur at beggining of its sales? Tell me please?
Yes it have a bit better screen it have an IP68 rating which not everybody needs in have an iris scanner where MI6 have only fingerprint sensor. It have a Samsung UI like xiaomi have MUI9, It have slightly better camera and so on. But This add-ons were NEVER WORTH 400 EXTRA BUCKS. Thats to my honest opinion.

If someone make create research some tevhnology like Dolby Atmos for example other companies dont need to spend even a penny on furthermore researchs.
They just put it into their devices sameway as apple did with superamoled instead of retina display.
And yet they have no shame to ask an ureasonably very high price for something which is not even close to worth its price. Dnt tell me that implementing certain tech to a single phone cost so much if someone ofther spend much more on research.
