The Nokia 500 is Nokia's first 1GHz Symbian smartphone

01 August, 2011
Nokia continues its Symbian push with its latest Nokia 500. It's quite like the C5-03 but with a 1GHz flare.

AnonD-12379, 01 Aug 20111st of all Nokia is not a dead company but might be sleepin... moresilly comparison.
your N70 is not as complex as today MODERN SMARTPHONE so it do less and work less than TODAY MODERN SMARTPHONE.
its like you just trying to compare i486 CPU with DOS OS playing digger VS P IV playing same games on a win XP, just try it man play digger on DOS emulator is it really 400x speed improve???
symbian is stupid down to the core and nobody can fix it,if nokia can fix it,they will not suffered so much lost like today.
dont waste your money on symbian,it is the real death end.

Too little, too late... Too say the device is cheap therefore everything is OK is uust plain naive IMHO. It seems Nokia are tyring to make this look like a genuine competitor to much better devices and saying that because it cheap that makes everything OK when it fails miserably. This seems like "death by a thousand cuts" to me. It is sad to watch.

Arguements again, lol. Dunno why the Android fans keep coming to Nokia threads just to bash Nokia. What's with the comparision with Samsung Galaxy S? That cost 3X more in my country.

The company dying or not(it certainly doesnt seem so in my country); what matters to me as end user is whether the device will die/break,etc on me before reaching 3 years.

So far, stainless steel wins over plastic, I'll take Nokia anytime. With plastic, I'll worry if it breaks shortly after the 1 year warranty.

No GPU on this bad boy as it seems, but it better have more RAM to make it worthwhile. My N97 didn't like multitasking.

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2011Once again, what have you gained from going to ios4? Wallpa... moreJust read these,

Updates, improvements, new features, bug fixes... but yes, yes according to you Symbian is already perfect and has everything, except it does absolutely nothing well.

And people already know that are voting with their wallets, and that's what matters.

Nokia can't even make the browser worth anything... and Nokia fan's answer is: Get Opera. LOL.

You can't even do a search in Symbian music player.

                              Some other problems with Symbian...

                              -Keyboard is not multitouch
                              -No portrait keyboard
-Keyboard does not overlay/”hover” over an app, opens in it’s own new window instead
                              -Built in Browser is terrible
-Homescreen does not follow the finger
-Photo viewer lags on the first pinch-zoom gesture, no kinetic panning when zoomed it the picture, no bounce effect(on both max zoom in and out)
-Does not rotate to landscape to both sides
-Animations and transitions effects aren’t good/consistent
-Needs 30FPS video recording, continuous auto-focus option
-Menu positions gets reset when you open/close menu, you always open the menu from “scratch”
-Player does not remember the video position when you exit
-Music player lacks lots of features
-No birthday imports from contacts into the calendar
-Search - is terrible, slow and useless

Are you trolls ignorant, stupid, or both?? This phone costs 150 Euro (180 after tax). The Samsung Galaxy s costs in excess of 300 Euro (500+ for the S2)

                                      Let's compare apples to apples:

                                      Samsung Corby 2 - price 150 Euro

                                      SCREEN: TFT capacitive touchscreen, 256K colors;
                                      240 x 320 pixels, 3.2 inches

                                      Internal memory: 26 MB

3G: No, it doesn't support it

                                      Primary camera : 2 MP, 1600x1200 pixels
                                      Video: QVGA@15fps

Browser: WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML (No flash - not event Flash lite)

                                      GPS: None

                                      Category feature phone

OK I'll be a bit more fair and see what Samsung are offering within the low-mid range category running android

Samsung Galaxy Prevail (price 220 Euro)

                                      Screen: TFT capacitive touchscreen, 256K colors;
                                      320 x 480 pixels, 3.2 inches

                                      Internal memory: 117 MB

                                      3G: Rev. 0, upto 2.4 Mbps
                                      Wifi: None

                                      Camera: 2 MP, 1600x1200 pixels

CPU: 600mhz processor overclocked to 800mhz. Arm6 build so no Flash 10.

If you are dumb enough to spend more money on a phone with less features, then go ahead and buy a cheap android handset. Just stop talking crap!
