You need to chill guys. The hardware update they are talking about is most likely the reduced peak current required due to the new 10nm process.

Just a daily reminder that Apple gives a toss about their loyal fans, to the point where if we hadn't called them out on #slowdowngate they would have trashed your iPhone X.

AnonD-234961, 07 Feb 2018Translation: the iPhone 8 and X do not have the critical ha... moreFixed translation: The iPhone 8 and X also have the critical hardware flaw that causes the previous iPhones to shutdown unexpectedly. They just opted for hardware controlled behaviour instead of a software one.
Meaning: You won't be able to choose between speed and reliability in newer iPhones, they chose for you.

AnonD-234961, 07 Feb 2018Translation: the iPhone 8 and X do not have the critical ha... moreThis actually does sound like Apple admitting to the planned obsolescence. They knew they had poorly designed hardware / bad batteries that could cause phones to shut down and lose performance but they pumped out updates to effect performance without explaining this to customers so they had no knowledge that getting a new battery would fix the issue. Under that circumstance customers suffering from low performance were likely to upgrade again because they didn't know any other solution was possible due to lack of information which was a direct choice by Apple. It's hard to argue they would forget such a big change in an update itinerary when they listed everything else.

Now Apple are saying that the new phones don't have this issue? Why wasn't this ever said before then as well?
