Advice for Sony users...
If you decrease brightness on auto mode, ISO goes lower.
No need to go manual.

Smaller photos will be less strechted when you crop.
Try this: crop the 19MP just 100% , then the 12MP 200%. So both can be almost same size.

To me iphone, google, huawei have good natural denoise and natural sharpness. Galaxy are good but to much oversharpen. For Xperia, its time for OIS implementation. It looks good when u compare it side by side, but not when pixel peeping.

Nice comparison, you can see quality improvement with every generation. Only Huawei and Samsung differences are not distinct, but quality of photos are already good even with older generations, so harder to improve. In other case looking at Sony line up, just one to cut out my eyes looking at picture quality, just awful. Where is all the Sony fanboys now??? :))

Some people are asking for xenon flash but I don't think it'll be a big difference on phones. The distance will still be very short (compared to most digital cameras) so you are only talking about a bit better flash.
Much better would be if the camera sensor was larger but this usually requires larger lens and thicker phone. If thickness doesn't increase, maybe we will end up with multiple lenses that are combined to produce one large photo in the future (instead of just zoom lens now, maybe two or three standard lens that merges them together).

I use to repeat myself on this, but cameras on smartphones have a great disadvantage, lack of space for proper hardware. Yes software helps a lot but man, having a phone at 10mm wouldn't really be a problem. Yes smartphone cameras have evolved greatly, but no oem looks at the advantage of a bit fatter phone. advantages may include better powerful speaker(s), bigger battery, bigger camera module etc.
instead they focus on tricks like battery savings and workarounds like bottom speakers.. pityfull. For companies like htc who used to be an all boomsound this and boomsound that no. Oems.. if you are reading this.. just stop with the dongles, cameras that go beyond the smartphone's back, bottom speakers and software tricks to have an excuse for the lack of hardware.
