Still no USB Type-C? No fast-charging? Less battery for a bigger screen? It is still a good phone and above the competition, but I still have desire for more. Especially with the Mi Note 3 still being so expensive...

I have used both Xiaomi Mi A1 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X. I found that quality of picture taken by Mi A1 the with dual camera is no better than picture by Redmi Note 4X with single camera. I realized that dual camera of phone does not improve picture quality over single camera.
I argue that dual camera on budget phone like Xiaomi phone is just gimmickry to bait ignorant consumer, who may innocently believe that dual camera is better idea than single one. In fact, dual camera is waste of money on cheap Xiaomi phone. Investing money on high-quality single camera module is better way to improve picture quality than wasting money on dual camera module.
I'd like to impress that Redmi series is budget phone line. No waste of money is acceptable in such budget phone. USB Type C and fast charging is more desirable than dual camera for Redmi.

Xiaomi doesn't have 1000 engineers working specifically on the camera only and if they do, the cost will be much higher (those engineers don't just work once, they will work continuously) than employing higher resolution camera or anything else that's just a slight price increase.

Xiaomi may use SD636 but... Other OEM can make better UI performance. Don't think Xiaomi Win.

Why dual cameras and 20M front camara? Single 13M back and 5M front camera of RN4X were enough for most occasion. Just improve the image quality of the single camera. Resolution is enough. Dual camera in back and 20 M front are overkill for budget phone. Even $700 Apple iPhone 8 has single 12M back and 7M front camera but yields much better, industry-leading picture quality. This is budget class phone. So don't waste money on fancy features like so-called "boke" effect of dual camera or 20M front camera. Invest in picture quality (like low light or better aperture or OIS) instead.
Money for useless dual cam can be used well for better AP like Snapdragon 640/660 or USB Type-C connector and quick charging (like USB-PD or QC4.0) or Android 8.0 Oreo on release. Single OIS camera would be much better than dual camera in my opinion.

Redmi note 5 pro. No Usb-C, no android Oreo (no project treble) been out for half a year now, no gorilla glass, no NFC and no fast battery charging for the 4,000 mah battery. Hhmm not very "pro" imo
