First of all, the article "Alcatel to announce..." it is totally wrong. Maybe the editor wanted to write "TCL Communication to announce tree new Alcatel phones...". Alcatel is a brand name, not a manufacturer. It's like saying "Pixel announced 3 more phones" instead of Google...

However, in my opinion, TCL has to look into the ZTE's yard and copy & paste the Axon 7 concept. Get rid of Mediatek and put a 8xx processor, put back great stereo speakers. Equally important, over a dozen of LTE bands (US + EU + CN + JP), including 71.
Not to mention 2 SIM highly recommended. As software, VoLTE and WiFi calling + nearly stock Android it is a must.

Vegetaholic, 16 Feb 2018All comes with mediatek chips. So just move on, we all know... moreChipsets are great (on performance,not all of course),but they are very bad in updates.Alcatel like Oppo,Vivo,Meizu,Zte almost never bring updates.And Alc is overpriced, not worth the money.

All comes with mediatek chips. So just move on, we all know you will not get any updates or decent performance from mediatek garbage. To be honest it's been awhile I seen mediatek on 2017 or 2018 phone if it's not from white box brand or ultra low end. Looks like hard times coming for Mediatek and it's garbage chipsets :)
