I've used Android One devices with so called stock or pure Android which lacks so many fundamental features that are present in OEM skins like Samsung Experience UI & Xiaomi's MIUI. Exclusivity can be the chief differentiating factor for a company and also turned into a selling point. This is what sets a company apart and is well understood in the business scenes. For example, reading mode. I've found Samsung's implementation of reading mode much better than third party apps and other OEM's versions. I needed to install a separate app to get reading mode or bluelight filtering option on my stock Android smartphone. There are many basic things which stock Android lacks. I don't like installing third party applications to get basic functionalities like call blocker, reading mode, music player app, photo editor, file manager etc. Stock Android looks cartoonish and the only thing going for it is fluidity. It feels fluid but I can make it even faster. In fact, the first thing I do on any Android smartphone is to turn on developer options to reduce the duration of UI animation transition effects so that the UI works fast. Lagging is a different thing which needs to be explained separately.. Stock Android is bloatware free which is good but many people mistake features as bloatwares which shouldn't happen. There's clear distinction between built-in features in the OS and bloatwares which are third party apps that come pre-installed like Facebook app which comes already installed by the manufacturer or the software provider on many Android phones, even Samsung's Android phones come with Facebook app pre-installed. Multi-Window functionality, for example, wasn't a part of stock Android until Nougat and was present in Samsung's UI since time immemorial. Doze hasn't made much difference in battery life in my opinion. Power Saving mode offered by the likes of Samsung is more superior with customizable interface. You can set different parameters to get more backup in different situations. I'm not saying Stock Android or unaltered software is bad. Some may prefer it, others may not. It's all about user preferences at the end. I'll only prefer stock Android if I have no other options left. I'm not a brand loyalist or an advocate for a particular brand but I like Samsung's Custom UI on top of Android since Grace UX days and Xiaomi's MIUI.. Both are feature rich UI and very much customizable and the best thing is I don't need to install separate apps to get basic functionalities. Cheers.

Custom Rom in some cases as my phone the Samsung galaxy a3 2016 has a exynis 7850 octa @1.6ghz
But Samsung disable this and uses 4 cores @1.5ghz

Some cases it is better but room is also you need if you have a newer phone

Those 36% have no idea what they are missing. Also the question is dumb. It's custom ROMs based on some android skin vs stock android, because there are custom ROMs based on stock android as well, which are good.

IOS one? No thats not possible Apple or i am wrong? Having your super secured OS which will restrict me from absolutely everything. Are we slaves back from 18th centaury which needs to be jailed, imprisoned?
Samsung UI with zillions of bloatware? No thanks hands off.
MUI is great but still some thing are just taking space you would need for something else.
Other software i dont know but having a lot of bloatware which looks like part of IOS and you just cant delete them because whenever you get to the internet it will upload back to latest possible version. Same goes when you upgrade your OS.

Pure android is an option. You have most space and you download what you want and like. You get all thats necessary for you and you can forget on any bloatware.
Pure android is perfect. Thats why i have my Moto X4.

AnonD-473228, 18 Feb 2018 faster updates... slowly fading these days...too many moto... morefortunately there's sony and nokia, if you can't spring for a pixel, as they are quick with monthly patches and kinda have close to stock skins, although nokia is slightly better than sony.

How the title is written, it sounds like Stock vs Lineage OS or something, while it's actually Stock vs Custom OEM UI. Thus you can see who commented without reading

I prefer to buy Xiaomi phones just to put my own clean aosp on them. Miui or other custom Android aren't worth it.

I absolutely love Stock Android. Motorola is an expert at that.
Cleaner experience, faster phone, faster updates.

MIUI is non-appealing to the eye, and Samsung custom ROMs are wack to say the least.

                          STOCK FTW!

I lobe custom ROMs.because of that my moto g first gen enjoying android Oreo 8.1 with February Sec patch..

Why choose when you can get the best of both worlds? Some custom ROMs offer extra functionality and features while retaining the look and speed of stock Android. Custom ROMs have allowed me to get my device on Nougat, while it was supposed to be stuck on Marshmallow.

Stock Android phones are trash many features incomplete and buggy is the sole reasons why their sales are so low compared to the customised ones coz general people don't want feature stripped phone for eg stock phones don't even get a fingerprint lock for apps so you need to download an app for small and basic function even a proper file managers are not present...

Getting custom ROMs mean your device will have a longer lifetime, assuming it hasn't broken down yet. Sometimes the community updates Android faster than the manufacturer, so that's a huge plus.
