Except for the volume control it's hard to see how the Z5C design could be improved. The XZ1 lacks the lanyard hole and the corners are awkward. This too looks several steps backward.

AnonD-735540, 20 Feb 2018the curve back design is ugly according to my eyes. Same here. I HATE round soapy phones. I love Sony for it's monolithic design. That's why I've upgraded to XZP form the original Z.
Let's hope they don't take the same approach for their high-end flagship phones.
That bloated back makes it look like the battery is swollen and about to say hello to Nuclear 7 :))
I am glad to see that they trimmed down the bezels though. Let's see what will the haters say now!

I don't think it's real or even prototype, because If no side fingerprint sensor, the power button should be round which is the signature design of the Xperia. I don't think Sony will ditch a signature style for a design change.

What disturb me is that brands usually ditch things like the jack in their flagships first and follow the same trend of style in their products. If they are just doing it in this model imagine the rest... I hope that this one is more an experiment than anything else because it looks ugly or strange but not nice and I hope that the fingerprint sensor on the back will be only for USA and not for the rest of the world leaving the comfortable sensor on the side.

That back curve just reminds me of my still alive XPERIA SP, but with a slightly bumped out curve which can look as thick as my XPERIA SP or even thicker...

This is the reason Sony, HTC are failing. You have to follow modern trend. You can't stick with old. And the reason for emergence of Chinese brands. In next few years HTC and Sony will be dead or bought by Chinese brands. Look at Motorola Blackberry, Alcatel and Vertu. They are all Chinese now.
