23 February 2018
"MTK P60 MWC Demo" is a great, descriptive name for a device.

Akorn Farmer, 23 Feb 2018This P60 Geekbench score (single 1524/multi 5871) is direct... moreWhy A72 ?? I see many ignorants here. There is no reason to use that old non-efficient IP.
              It's surely A73 clocked lower like 2.0GHz.
Plus, comparing sd821 is totally meaningless. sd821 was a flagship with a very different architecture. It has a very powerful FLOPS which was underrated in GB4 (in GB3 its single score was higher than sd835's). At the same time, sd821's power consumption is much higher. SD821 consumes more than 6W while sd660 and other competitor consumes about 4W

AnonD-732807, 23 Feb 2018Could be the new A-55 in an 8 core configuration...those wi... moreYeah, that would end up being a pretty sweet chip for the mid range.

This P60 Geekbench score (single 1524/multi 5871) is direct competitor of Snapdragon 660 (single 1607 multi 5823) or Snapdragon 821 (1604/4162). But little behind the leaked Snapdragon 670 (1863/5256). So it seems some 8 core ARM Cortex A72 *4 + A53 *4 core variant.
But MediaTek AP's are famous for inferior GPU, compared with its CPU. So I won't impressed until I see graphics score and its price.

So you do need big cores but two is enough. Speculative execution CVE's aren't big concern on Big.little ARM architecture as process priority can be limited...

Not bad score for mediatek, still rubbish considering you will not get any updates or support

Hayaan Mo Sila, 23 Feb 2018NOT ALL MediaTek SoCs are bad. The Helio X and P series are... moreand even then they can't reach the levels of Snapdragon 835. (hello? A73 based cores? I am visiting mediatek's site due to work reasons on day to day basis to learn any differences. and tweaking toward. and I have YET to find any new chipset except the X30 to use the A73 core. )

Seems a straight competitor to SD660, virtually no difference, bit Geekbench is just some part of the story. AnTuTu will reveal other parts.

Could be the new A-55 in an 8 core configuration...those will prove very capable also not vulnerable to spectre & meltdown. If these are on a modern finfet process node they could become a sweet spot of price & performance and battery life.
