Samsung Max launches to replace Opera Max, a VPN with data protection

Opera Max was preloaded on some Galaxys, but it shut down. Samsung stepped up to maintain the functionality.

MdN8, 23 Feb 2018Samsung Browser is way better than Chrome. It blocks ads, h... moreI can agree to some extent. Googles apps are annoying. I don't like the photos app nor do I care for its dialer, contacts, Files? (yeah right), music. Don't even get me started on chrome.

Only google apps I use on the daily is youtube and maps. Photos to backup my camera roll
I try to opt for the device built apps instead and fined them more pleasing

    Anything BUT Opera. Opera is the biggest Advertising engine these days within the browsers - its unusable. They've screwed up big time

It messaged, video called, phone called sent pictures, video, files,location, had a web interface, was cross platform. I only have the paid media opinion that it was no good. Truth is snapple, farcebook, whastcr@p, poogle, and co, did not want a Samsung messenger on multi millions of phones with data they wanted to track for good ole uncle sam, so they brought it down. Now you hear media rave over some usa app bringing in a web interface or some other feature which Samsung already had. Samsung apps are not bloatware they are not sprung on any user, we buy phones after handling them and choosing them as they are ,software and all. The pretend to be a member of the public , posts, pretending to hate Samsung, and the hundreds of negative one star reviews, posted by rival Pr phone employees, cannot over turn the massive sales that make Samsung the number one phone manufacture ,( If you struggle with that truth, just check out, the story on here, early new year, that criapple, had to post a story, that even with the Note 7 recall , left them 0.0000001%, ahead inthe sales market. WHAT ! Even when the Note 7 didn't sell ? Naa, the 7 blew them out of the water with the S8 weeks away.) sells millions and millions of thier phones with thier software, approved by nations of people, its just that, you only get to read the output of the paid media from the good ole big $$$apple centric media.

It blocks ads, h... more100% agreed regarding Samsung Internet (simply the best mobile browsing experience I've ever had on ANY platform) and Samsung Music (much more feature-rich than Play Music). Then there's also Bixby that's so versatile, especially with its time-saving quick commands. For example, I simply say, "I'm on a Journey" to do ALL of the following:

            - Turn off Wi-Fi
            - Turn off NFC
            - Turn on Bluetooth
            - Set Location Mode to High Accuracy
            - Turn on voice wake up
            - Play my "On the go Music Collection" playlist
            - Open Car Dashdroid (which automatically sets itself as the default launcher)
            - Open Google Maps

They have a different approach - Google Photos support uploading photos to Google because Google needs to make money. Chrome shows random articles on the front page and doesn't block tracking because Google needs to make money. Play Music offers you to buy music from Google because Google needs to make money. Samsung just makes apps that honestly do what they are supposed to do. Some third party apps can be better than Samsung's, of course. And, of course, when you get lost, you use Google maps (well, or Here Maps).

Never heard of Ne... moreI like NewPipe because it's light and fast, comes with a dark theme and supports downloads, also because it doesn't show comments, it supports gestures for volume and brightness, but it's not available from Play Store. It's open source and I got it from F-Droid.

Google is a software giant, you can't expect that level of perfection from Samsung but still there are few Samsung apps that are better than Google counterparts. People just brush it aside like "eh....it's a Samsung app so it must be trash".

                          Genza, 23 Feb 2018Hahaha... That's funny sorry if I offend you but as hard as... moreSamsung Browser is way better than Chrome. It blocks ads, has a proper UI, QR scanner, night mode, tracking blocker, supports 360 degree videos, has useful shortcuts etc.
                          Samsung Music is way better than Play Music. Supports folders, has a really useful EQ and looks great. And the volume goes up to 150%. The same for Samsung's video player. I only need VLC for very rare .mkv videos.
                          Samsung's Gallery is way more useful than Google... (tried it a few times and deactivated it - Google Photos? Is that what it's called?)
                          Google Play is better than Galaxy Apps, so that's one for Google.
                          Samsung's file manager is better than Google's (Files Go?), if you can call it that.
                          Samsung doesn't have a YouTube app, but NewPipe is better. ;-)

That's funny sorry if I offend you but as hard as you try to lie to me you never change the fact that samsung is very sucks at optimization and it's based on my own experience using their flagship phones and apps.
                            Oh btw opera max is made by Opera not Google

                                AnonD-503930, 23 Feb 2018funny..same app with a different name..huh..do samsung hate... moreSomething happened with Opera, for example their desktop browser used to have free VPN provided by SurfEasy, but now it uses Opera's own VPN servers, and it is quite slower. And you can't choose a country any more, just region. So I suppose Samsung did it because they can't rely on Opera any more.

                                    Samsung just made their in-house replacement for that discontinued browser.
