I still trust European customers are mature enough not to jeopardize the actual business practice of telecom providers to subsidise the retail price of mobile phones. I would not like to imagine the scenario of Apple selling very successfully the unsubsidised iphone,because this could be the end of subsidised phones upon new contract or renewal of existing contracts.The Nokia's, Sony's ,Samsung's and the likes would also apply the same strategy and the subsidie we are presently enjoying will go directly to these companies. European customers, Be SMART, Buy Smart because you are really smart!

Im italian , and italy is one of the most important market for phones... its really incredible that i have to wait till next year to have the iphone... and specially that will be an exclusive for just one operator!! im a fan of apple and very big user of phone.

i see people here that are not agree with the opinion of the most, and i think is why they don´t know a bit about phones. this site here is exactly for disccus about the phones and they are right when they recomend not to buy it, because it doesn´t do anything compare to the others and that´s why we come to this page. every phone has it´s own public that´s right butttt if u know a bit about phones you don´t buy a phone that doesn´t makes video recording ....
it is just like here in my country dominican republic people were crazy about motorola v3 now the price has gone down and down and every one has one v3 and wants to buy another phone

i waitted for that phone for long time and i refuced to get the N95 just to get the iphone but i guess that apple no longer trusted company so i will buy the n95 and i will never wait to any other apple product

For you people who might fancy getting the iphone i have just read a good review about the messages department on the iphone on www.mobile-review.com an the iphone will not please alot of people who like texting there mates as you can not end loads of texts to your mates at the same time an have to creat a new message everytime which they explain why the review they gave about the iphone was right but some people didn"t agree with there review an closed www.mobile-review.com they always give honest reviews,i can not see the iphone pleasing alot of people in Europe

How stupid would you have to be to buy a phone that is already inferior to other phones on the market before it has even launched?
On top of that the phone is gonna be at a crazy price because Apple won't let the networks subsidise the price, and because Apple want a cut of the networks profit that will probably mean no decent deals either.

I cant believe that the phone wont be partly free on contract and that we would have to pay for is in full. The phone does not even support java for crying in a bucket. I dont even think you can use mxit on the phone. and for those of you who dont know what mxit is go to www.mxit.co.za

OK, Theres a lot of opinions about this phone and I know this phone is NOT suited for everybody..

If you THINK or even KNOW that it doesnt have a feature u require - then buy something else and stop WHINING about this phone. Theres nothing you can do about it. Again, NOTHING.
If you think this phone is overpriced and its over your budget then go find another phone. One thing I can say to you: Apple isnt a CHARITY.
If you think that Steve Jobs said something that isnt true about this phone, GET OVER IT. He aint a robot.
If you think its snobbish, unfair, discriminative or whatever u call the decision of apples iphone in subsidy in particular network, then switch to that network if you really want it! Stop whining about it, youre just wasting your time and energy.
If you hate iphone and think it will not sell well in the future, then you might be the BEST FORTUNE TELLER in the world. Think again.
IN SHORT:
If you want it, GET IT.
Too pricey, LOOK FOR ANOTHER ONE.

Please believe me when I say I am not an iPhone supporter. I agree with the flaws it has, but for crying out loud: People are searching for faults like the mid-western states for gold.
EVERY phone has its faults. The N95, the K850, all of them have substantial faults - depending on who's looking at it.
This is Apple's first. Allow them to learn and fall on their face.
Don't forget that the MAC OS does allow for upgrades and does allow for third-party applications. It is a smartphone just like any other Windows Mobile device. You can install new apps - a feature only symbian, MS and linux phones can truly boast about (forget JAVA).

I generally like apple things. I don't own any apple products for various things on each product that I dont like.
Now the Apple iPhone - the list of things it DOESNT do is more than the list of things it can do. I mean NOT being able to send a MMS or NOT being able to send & recieve over bluetooth NOT being able to use a MP3 as a ringtone!!!
Apple have done well to get there fingers around networks. But you dont see Nokia/SE/Sammy etc.. selling a product to a network and then asking for profit!!!?
Apple (like Nokia etc..) are handset/product makers & not a Network, but there asking for network profits. (This is what i mean about getting the networks to do what apple wants & also what gets to me)
But at the same time, having this apple brand on a network will do the networks good. There are alot of people that just dont know sh** about phones. So are just going to want it.
This phone may work in the states, but I really DO NOT think this phone suites the EU market.
In ' MY ' eyes the Sony Ericsson W960i is a much better phone in EVERY category. Though many people will not see this. You also got the Nokia N95 black, this is one of the best phones ever made... BUT the battery is so bad it destroys the point of having the phone. (btw, are there any improvements on the N95 black battery?????)
Generally speaking, the iPhone is to an extent ok. Nothing at all near the media hype.
If you want a phone that plays music and lets you ring and thats all you want and nothing else, by all means get this phone ;)
Otherwise its the usual suspects Nokia, SE, Sammy etc..

I just don't get all the mocking of iPhone and comparing it to e.g. N95. Sure N95 packs a lot more punch for a buck, but it ain't quite simple to use. By simple I mean the ease of use for someone with experience only with low spec phones or owns a high-end-phone, but doesn't utilize all it's specs. It packs the few selected features (music, web, video) and makes it easy to use em, because there ain't zillion of additional features to confuse people. "Simple" phone for "simple people". It certainly ain't a phone for me, but I understand people who like it. The only thing I hate in the device is the hype around it (and the fruit logo)...

i think they should just get rid of the iphone if everyone's going to be mean to eachother like you are in this forum. I hated the iphone anyway. I like my n95 much better
