And we could agree a curved screen is a design. Yes it is.
But to be honest curved screen is much more expensive than a flat one even a repair cost much more. Curved screens are very slippery and curved screens in case of curved screens you can either have a glass protection or a case not both because any case will push your screen protector of from the phone.
To me flat screens was always better. Better firm in hand not as slippery as curved screen and it had some bezzels.
Phone without bezzels is like car without bumbers or woman with flat flat chest. And i hope i am right if we consider any of theses as very ugly.
So tghe result? Sony is beautifull compared to ugly Samsung brick.

Almost everyone find galaxy phones beautiful (i don't give a shit about the price or quality since we're talking about design). Curved display is something that these days all phones got it even Pixel, LG and Huawei phones. But for real how the hell can you say this ugly piece of trash is beautiful!?
Man you need glasses. Xperia XZ and XZ Premium are still good, they could just reduce bezels and stay with same taste of design but ffs XZ2 looks ugly and cheap. Anyway hey it could be a hit in 90's market.

Apple X and all that copy apple X design.
Compared to that Sony is a very nice phone.
Apart from very expensive veins which arent worth even a half of its price.

AnonD-706449, 27 Feb 2018You're right it's not about calling a f2 cheap but it is no... moreto me the only downgrade is the lack of jack, which is unforgivable and the front camera(if the use the 13mp in the xz1, the bezel will be bigger and people will complain again)
but other is pretty much an upgrade, the screen is better with better HDR rating
the stereo speaker is still there(and it explain the bezel not being as slim as s9, it front facing, like the pixel 2 XL, and the pixel have even bigger bezel)

-. -, 26 Feb 2018when the f2.0 suddenly become cheap? well it's darker than ... moreYou're right it's not about calling a f2 cheap but it is not otimapl for an expensive flagship. you know upgrade MUST be otherwise it makes no sense to buy the new gen. device so Upgrade must be always included. 960fps at 1080 and HDR is upgrade but ufortunately there's downgrades as well. for me it is not understandable to use lower and cheaper hardware than last year device and with the money what they did save with cheaper pieces they upgrade some other hardware pieces and they raise the price for 100$ too, It makes really no sense.

Smaller number is, larger hole (diaphragm) is. Zoom variable lens are capeable to cover smaller holes maximum, because of more complicated design. Fixes, as in this case, have larger hole, therefore can allow to utilize larger diaphragm.

Furthermore, Sony doesn't place the fingerprint scanner close to the camera lens like S9 S8, so the design for XZ2 is close to Human and more convenience because of their design much closer to the better user experience.

It is not just let's go from 2.0 to 1.7..
Does not work like that...
Did you notice that telephotos have f2.4, f2.6 or f2.8 and not f1.7, f1.6?
The f value is used according sensor size.
Cameras dont have f1.4 or f1.7, they use f5.4, f6.0

htc u11 ripoff and not only that but its 11.1mm thick. Thats quite the fantastic achievment sony.
not touching this company again. I might buy the xz1 and thats the last sony phone im getting unless they change.

I have made a pact with myself, the only headphone jackless phone I'll spend money on is the Pixel 2 XL, anything else is not worth the compromise. And yes, I own the Sony WH-X1000XM2 but I still prefer to be wired but appreciate the noise cancelling chops when in noisy environments!

As a long time xperia user I'm disappointed in the design of these phones. The screen is just useless and bezels on the side! So what did ditching the headphone jack actually do nothing. The compact looks like it has a reused part from the back of the Xperia SP the full size ripped off the HTC 10 rear LG q6 at front. Either I'll wait for the pro or buying a different brand. The Chinese phones seem to be more cutting edge at present.
