I believe in Samsung's marketing strategy but I too think that the S9 isnt going to sell more than the S8 last year, primary reason being the price. It's expensive. If you have an S8 or S8+ why spend more money on a phone that looks almost the same? Also, if you really want a good camera, you can buy A REAL ONE, for a CHEAPER price.

Even though I think Samsung has done great new features for the S9, its not anything we haven't already seen on other phones. It's not as ground breaking and revolutionary as Samsung believes it to be. Over all, I'd still say, stick to your phone now and just wait for the S10 anniversary edition.

I don't see S9 will sell more than S8, as it has not many new upgrades. Maybe anyone who is using S6 or S7 will get something new. But not much for other high-end users. S9 is more like an updated and corrected version of S8 rather than a fresh new device.

In fact, I think the mid-range and flagship killer devices are getting exciting. Take the example of 200$ devices from Huawei like 7x, 9 etc are looking better deal.

Considering the fact that the Galaxy S9/S9+ is cheaper than their predecessor at lauch (starting at $719 for the base S9) and considering the fact that it is release earlier than the S8, I really think the S9 can out sell the S8 (but not that much though).

I am using S8+ and i will not change it this year. It is for the first time when i ditch to buy a new model. I am very satisfied with my S8+. I am waiting to see Note 9, Huawei P20. But i will not buy nothing until Samsung will not put over 4000 mah battery

"Variable aperture". Not so variable. What if I want something like f16? Anyways, I have a 4 year old 200$ mirrorless camera and it stills kick a** in terms of image quality, and when you have something like that you stop wanting a new phone just because of camera upgrade. Saves you a lot of money.

As an S8 owner, I won't be upgrading this time, doesn't make sense.

people may prefer iphone x for that price.. especially in emerging market..or better stick with s8 if they previously bought it

Imperator Neubaticus, 27 Feb 2018I doubt it. Yeah, me too.
The S9 line is clearly really, really, really good, but do you really have a reason to upgrade if you have a decent phone already?

Coming from HTC, Sony and now using S8+(my first S). I must say I find Samsung's Push for updates very slow. Will I be getting and Samsung in near future? No!!! Going for XZ2 this year.

Mere 37 millions for Galaxy S8? It is way fewer shipment than estimated 49 millions of Galaxy S7 of last year, 2017. I expect even fewer shipment of 30 millions or less for Galaxy 9. Galaxy S9 is just minor upgrade from Galaxy S8. Not worth to upgrade. People will turn their eye to similarly capable but less expensive mid-range Android alternatives than spending $800-$900 on stale premium offerings this year.

Well of course they would, they would not release a statement saying otherwise now would they ?

I guess samsung didn't get the memo about phone sales having peaked already.
                          Not going to happen.

No one will buy. If Note 9 fail with the fingerprint placement, it will fail also.

Other flagships do the same with much much lower cost. You need more gimmicks Samsung! Not just a camera change.. (Leave AR emoji rubbish to Apple, please)

Sorry Samsung but that's not gonna happen at any cost. Coz no one's gonna upgrade from s8/note8 or even s7 edge. I'm a Samsung fan but I won't upgrade until s10 or note10. S9 doesn't offer anything ground-breaking.....and yes we can always port camera app and ARemoji thanks to xda developers.

What's better in Galaxy S9 over S8? That would make us upgrade for a more pretty price? I used to upgrade my device every year when the top tier phones were on 2mp camera and the next year I could upgrade to 3,2mp e.g Sonyericsson k700 over k800.. These days I don't see any upgrade in technology so I'D RATHER KEEP MY MONEY IN MY POCKET TIGHT

Stop complaining. Everyone knows already that there will be sold no less units than S8.

Not trading my S8+ in. They don't support them after they sold them to you anyway. Yo had your chance, Samsung. Bye !

nope Sammy, not at this price. there are better alternatives out there and cheaper at the same performance at least.
