All of their newer flagships are having the freaking notch. Told you the Chinese makers always follow Apple's footsteps. And come on, IPX was announced so much earlier than MIX2. How can it be the other way round?

They are saying that Xiaomi should beat Huawei this year but that Huawei and Oppo are pretty much tied. If MIX 2S takes off along with the upcoming Mi 7 we might not even have to wait for Xiaomi to beat out Samsung for the top spot. I mean S9 isn't winning any awards any time soon.

Xiaomi took away the audio jack sure but they did it to fit all their parts in without compromises like the other major OEMs were doing. And the notch came from Xiaomi. Apple's iPhone X is a complete copy of a rejected MIX 2 design. Xiaomi rejected it when they asked their fans (what a healthy company does) and the fans said they didn't like the notched screen concept. That's why MIX 2 ended up looking like an updated MIX instead.

They took away the Note 7's and gave out S7 Edges to replace them. That alone artificially inflated the Galaxy S numbers. And with so many going out so late in the product life cycle, people weren't as inclined to quickly replace them with S8's (4 1/2 to 5 months). They sat on the older phone until the Note 8 hit.
While I don't see the S9 setting any records, it'll still do better than Apple did with the iPhone X. Don't see Samsung canceling parts orders and scaling back production...
Anyways, the phone industry as a whole has all slowed down in 2017 and 2018. Phones are built better and costing more. Less and less need to upgrade every year.

SoC and Camera are important, but design and battery are even more so. And Samsung is stuck in both.
Xiaomi and other chiense often offer more than 4000 battery and fresh design. Remener the orginal mi mix 2 years ago? Nobody has touched it still, 85% BtS ratio, 4400 battery and loaded in specs (everything apart the camera which was a$$). It is the sort of innovation that Samsung lacks.
That is why it loses in total sales and Xiaomi gains. One is innovative and fresh , the other is increasingly becoming the modern blackberry. Iterative, boring and set in her ways.

Oh yes, I really like this design. Under screen fingerprint sensor, soft lines in a tiny notch perfectly integrated in the upper right corner. Perfect, i'm a bit afraid about the price but there are various models upcoming, Mix 2S, the Mi 7 series, Mi Note 4 and the BlackShark project.
Xiaomi will save me from the ugly notch trend in the middle upper of the displays. This one looks beautiful. And Xiaomi let you unlock the phones, i hope it support treble too. My wallet is ready!

Also MIUI 8 is from 2016. Samsung Experience (8.1) from 2017...
I agree for notch, but does this Mix 2s have same notch like iPhone X?.. Or same fingerprint scaner?
