No wonder. Igoats still throw 1500 euro on ipad pro 13" when they can get at the same price a macbook air with fullblown mac os or another excellent ultrathin ultrabook with windows like asus zenbook. Igoats are the most susceptible customers to buy anything with the apple logo, only to show off. As long the wrist watch is very easy to be noticed, they throw 400 euro on this useless gadget.

Am I the only one who never want to move away from phone and laptop only culture?

My watch face shows the time and date, just like every other watch. It also shows battery percentage, wheater, temperature and sunrise/sunset. I can say you, once you had one, having none feels like there‘s something missing, it‘s exactly like when you don‘t have your phone with you.

I really like it, it’s classy (because stainless steel version) and it‘s functional. The only thing I force myself to use is my € 1000 LG OLED TV because there is nothing good coming in tv.

You have to hold down a button from what I remember. I know I used it to buy a few things. (Since returned what was otherwise a superb watch because the latest big Tizen update introduced several crash bugs.)

Look at it this way - apple products are bought by cult people and others by geeks and random people.

In a product category that has no compelling reason to exist, the Apple one sells anyway because it's Apple. No surprise there.

I love my gear S3, only gripe is that it doesn't support SamsungPay! I don't want Apple Watch, as I might have to shell out fortune to get an iPhone to make it work!

                  Enough of ecosystem bs

Trying to keep my phone in my shoulder bag when outside and most of calls, messages, payments can manage from watch and take phone out only when really need it. Even at home I don't need to cary phone with me when doing something. Watch works great for notifications
Plus like you mentioned activity tracker

The problem lies in how the smartwatches are made and branded like. What purpose does a smartwatch have? Is it an extension to the phone or a standlone device? None of these options truly have a purpose for the buyer. It's like answering a question that does not exist.

sr777, 02 Mar 2018I still don't think there is any real reason to buy a smart... moresmartwatch can display contents smarter.
time can be presented in desired way, great colors in desirable size and fonts. layout can be customized. I set my watch to have convenient stop watch on top page. no other tools can start the time counting process quicker then my customized watch does.
alarm on smart watch is very much flexible.
display on smartwatch is the most excellent reason compared with traditional watch. I enjoy using smartwatch during swimming, ultra sharp and clear text tells me the time.
footstep counter is useful to remind myself how many steps are made. better do more than 5000 each day. phone can not track the steps as accurately as watches do.

Apple watch has support from apple....the rest have barely any. Even Google does not care that much of androidwear. That makes Apple watch the only one worth buying.
On the other hand I still have a traditional watch XD

i want to get a Android LG sport watch recently but no way to get one. the local LG division here don't sell any android watch
Samsung's smart watch that runs Tizen I think it is too limited
Apple watch that works with Iphone only which is not I am using.
I have no idea about the other sports brand smartwatch, what os these watches are running?

It's the problem of marketing, distribution. not customers don't want to buy any smartwatch.

I still don't think there is any real reason to buy a smartwatch other than as an activity tracker and for measuring health vitals.

If someone is too lazy to pull out the phone to make a payment, there is no doubt he will turn out to be a good couch potato in the future and such a person wouldn't have any use of it as an activity tracker. But if someone really needs an activity tracker and not lazy to pull out the phone, I think he will also be smart enough to spend the money in a smart way. :)

Just came here for the Apple hate and fanboy excuses, not disappointed at all, Lol.

I’ve got an Apple Watch 2 and a Samsung Gear S2 Classic. I like them both. I’ve pretty much given up on Android smart watches because Google has as well, evidently.

apple is the only company i've seen put advertising out just for there smart watch. in the past year i can't think of a single annoying ad popping up mid way through a youtube video or on facebook. that belonged to another smartwatch maker. also as others have mentioned apple isn't accounting for watches still sat on shelves they're making the claim using just units shipped which isn't an accurate measure by any means

People buying them to wear and use. Except battery life Apple watch is really great product. Since I'm Android user I'm still waiting when something like that will come out on android. I had rewatch 3 with previous Android version and it was really bad, I mean really... first of all Google should be interested otherwise this project will fail. At least Samsung is trying something.
