Just buy an android one phone , at least you will get all the latest updates fast like your old Nexus. Pixel phones are too expensive.

I'm happy with my Nexus 6P and I don't plan to buy a new phone. So, maybe I'm gonna give Lineage or whatever ROM a try. I already "upgraded" my HTC Wildfire to Android 4 thist way...

Im one of those , and I made the call to move away from those phones , at least I hope that my next unit brand could give it a little more attention , in another words , I’m not sitting around and keep giving google my hard earned $¥£€ or whatever it is

With bootloops & dying batteries theres not much point in supporting them anymore

                Google will be like:
Sorry guys, for Nexus 6P no Android :P

At least Google is offering 3 years update to their flagships. Unlike Sony which only provides 2 years support for their overpriced flagships. Look at Z5 series for example, it reached the End-Of-Life even those devices had yet to reach 2 years honourably.

AnonD-365307, 08 Mar 2018Bad news. Iphone 5s launched Sep 2013 still getting update... moreYeah, will be hearing this life along.. but Android is open-source and will help a lot with proper treble support in future. Apple has hardware and software controllable together and recent OS updates are likely incremental updates (even recent Android is not make groundbreaking features too, but is ahead of what iOS offers). Google will depend on QC for HAL updates and so on..
Frankly, Google is wanted to make money as smartphone vendor (so they killed Nexus program too) and they decided to urge user to switch their premium devices at least 3 years once..

Seems like a few days since android Jelly bean on the Nexus 4, btw, what happens after andoid Z, (if smartphones survive that long)?

Well, at least those updates won't trigger even more hidden bugs in those carefully crafted phones.

Google updates it's devices for 3 years regarding security updates, not major OS updates

At-least Google is offering 3 years update to Pixel 2/2 XL.
As for Nexuses, Pixel C and even first gen Pixels , Google can't update those beyond two years. All those devices were launched when core OS and vendor implementaion were merged in Android. Even with Oreo they won't get a separate vendor partition as there is a risk of bricking the device. Qualcomm gives two years support and that limits the previous devices.
I think next Pixel will get more support with better segregation among different components in Android P.

WTF is wrong with google? Its barely 3 years since the devices were announced!! They should be leading as an example, how the hell do they expect other OEMs to update their devices if they cant support their own devices for more than two years???? All they keep saying after launch of every device is "we will support this for at least three years." Am done with Google devices! I would rather stick with Samsung's experience than this fake company!
