Alienating. Samsung abandoned its camera business back in 2015, with their last high-end camera/smartphone hybrid being the Galaxy K Zoom (2014, 20MP, xenon + LED).

In cameraphone history, the only innovation work taking note in the last 3 years is software-based bokeh. Apart from Samsung, the last cameraphone worth mentioning was the Panasonic CM1, with aperture ring and 1-inch image sensor (December 2014).

I believe this is just a promotional timeline for S9 and S9+.

Many of the original trendsetters like Pixon12 and Samsung INNOV8 are missing. The ones with optical zoom are missing too.

PiCosm, 09 Mar 2018They have missed out way more innovative phones, including ... moreThis is exactly my point. Which means the one who prepared this infographic is not a tech guy/gal and has no idea about the brand's past and present innovations.

The Scientist Pigeon, 09 Mar 2018The most important part of this timeline is that, Even ... moreThey have missed out way more innovative phones, including the smart phone with a mechanical slide out QWERTY keyboard that was launched just before the iPhone. It had a lot in common visually and proved that Samsung did not steal the iPhone look. The OS was slow which killed it, I was about to buy one, but it was a very useful form factor, a bit like the superb Motorola Androids with slide out keyboards that came later.
There are also many others, although I think LG have been the most innovative.

Nokia would make a much better timeline with it's real innovations.

They missed out their pixon and pixon 12, one of the earliest camera phone with 8mp and 12mp camera respectively

The most important part of this timeline is that,

Even Samsung itself is not aware of its products.

Can I ask, since when V200 becomes X590?

My old retired V200c got confused itself, let alone others. The handset said: Who really am I? Please tell me the truth.

Where is the Samsung G800 with optical zoom and xenon flash? These are much better features than what they mention in their timeline. They purposely don't mention it, because they want people to be unaware of optical zoom and xenon flash in phones, so people won't demand it in the current flagships...

Also, where are the other unique Samsung phones?
                    Samsung M8910 Pixon12 - world's first 12MP camera phone from 2009
SCH-B600 - world's first 10MP camera phone from 2006 with optical zoom, autofocus, flash and mobile TV capability via Satellite (DMB TV)
                    SCH-V770 - world's first 7MP camera phone from 2005

Best camera phone ever was s4 zoom, wish they bring it back

Rimas2, 09 Mar 2018I saw exactly 1 person with S4 Zoom :) The phone (?) really... moreK Zoom didn't have tripod mount so doesn't count
                        j/k
I can't seem to see the part where GSMArena claims there was only one Zoom, must have been edited since or I'm blind.

xXoXx, 09 Mar 2018You are right, V10, V20, G6 and V30 take better photos than... moreYou're ABSOLUTELY right. Nobody makes better smartphone cameras than LG.

Oh wait, no ranking authority places LG at the very top.

                          And, no reviewer either.

So the Only certifying and reviewing authority is you.

So I guess it doesn't matter. You are the only person in the world who believes this.

I guess you also believe your LG takes better photos than a Hasselblad.

I may disagree with you, but I would love to smoke, whatever it is, that you are smoking.

I saw exactly 1 person with S4 Zoom :) The phone (?) really did look awkward :) @GSMArena - you claim there was only one Samsung zoom phone, but what about K Zoom?

They did quite well, bringing spherical, panorama, animated shots, sound shots,... and other modes, while some would struggle just bringing good enough panorama.

I beleive Samsung also has a 3D camera at one point of time, which was the 2nd 3D camera in any smartphone in the world. It was also therefore, one of the first 3D cameras.

Nokia Lumia 808 and 1020 camera can still beat the Galaxy S9 in terms of low/ day light photos and videos even though it's an outdated phone with F=2.2 and only 1080p 30fps.

TBH, wait for Nokia 9 in September, it will still beat the Galaxy Note 9 even though the Galaxy Note 9 will come the lowest Apreature and huge pixel quality.
