Wireless charging fks ur battery fast 🔋

Jimbob of Jonestown, 11 Mar 2018Wireless charging has been around for.... a very long time.... moreAll I'm daying is innovation should be recognised and celebrated. Innovation and being creative doesn''t always translate well initially in real world application, it doesn't mean that disqualifies that peice of tech from being the innovator/creator. For example, motorola released the first fps on a smartphone, but apple launched the first smartphone that implemented the Fps successfully.

I had a Nexus 4, which is at this point like a 2011 phone with it built in. Apple has also done this before Xiaomi, with their latest iPhones.

It's a tech I really want to see in more phones, as it's super convenient, if slightly less efficient.

YES Sharp did do it first. I don't disagree with that, and never have. But we're not talking about who put an ill conceived concept phone out in a limited market, well before the technology was anywhere near ready to support it. Sharp's phone didn't do anything to change the landscape of smart phones. It wasn't meant to be a consumer phone. It was meant to show off to other phone OEM's what Sharp's screen manufacturing division could produce. Ultimately it didn't do that either. Heck Foxconn bought Sharp and they couldn't even convince Apple to put them in the bezel heavy iPhone 8.

Xiaomi actually released a phone that people WANTED and were willing to spend money on (in some cases a LOT of it). Even if the original one was a small batch, limited market test. The demand for it and hype over it dramatically changed smart phone screens. Because of that we're talking about the 3rd generation of the phone, which will be globally available.

This is for all the people saying Sharp was first.

The Mi Mix was a proper attempt at the bezel less design that was inspired from the Aquos.
And Xiaomi gave it their best, whilst Sharp's attempt was half hearted as best. Sharp even gave up on it after 3-4 iterations.

Sure, back then the tech wasn't good enough for a high end phone + good bezel less design. But since those phones were all about the bezel less design, Sharp could've only concentrated on the design if they really wanted to.

Being first doesn't really matter when your competition comes in second with something that is astronomically better. The race of tech isn't about reaching the finish line first - there is no finish line here. This race is about who does it better and makes the tech more accessible, and in this case it was Xiaomi.

Yes Sharp deserves credit for coming up with the idea first.....................but for f**ks sake, shop whining about it on every thread about bezel less devices.

Love the Community, 09 Mar 2018Did Sharp Aquos blew up in popularity in 2014? NO! They're ... moreActually you couldn't be more wrong, sure the Sharp aqua sales sux but it had a bezeless design way ahead of its time which was then copied and revived by Xiaomi, in turn setting off the current bezeless trend.

Not every company has the luxury of stellar sales but to be considered the precursor for current modern smartphone design defintly had its place in history.

But at least better than fruit phone X, which notch is disturbing my pace in mobile gaming tbh (tried one of my friend's fruit X, and my lap time on NFS No Limits and Asphalt were reduced greatly).

Definitely Xiaomi not the first to launch 'borderless' phone, however Mi Mix ignites the trend followed by Samsung, Apple and others. I'm not a fan of this fragile design, however astonished by its charm. Xiaomi, please blow my mind!

The selfie camera seems to be at the center of the bottom bezel which is really thin. The main cameras are aligned horizontally. No signal of where is the fingerprint sensor. If this is the definitive prototype, it remains to be seen... I like it and the previous one with the notch at the upper right corner too. We'll expect more leaks, sure.
