An in depth article would have been a good read. I really want to punch people in their face for calling s5 ugly. That is my 1st sammy phone. I have been using it since last 3 years. Its a beast even with 2 gb ram. I recently upgraded to note8 but s5 is still running my international sim just for calls. Its a beast.i could call it sammys best if it had 3gb ram. Idk why sammy took backstep in ram when note 3 had 3 gb already in those days. But a killer looker and i always used phone without case. It withstood many drops in last 3 and half years. Did not used screen guard also.

Bias as usual. The plastic was fine. Especially as they progressed.
And nobody in real world though the s5 was ugly. And bad to the touch??? That was one of the best parts of it. It was indeed great to the touch.

Article forgets to mention biggest reason for the Galaxy s to succeed was it was a iPhone copy and people couldn't see the difference. And yes at first glance even techy people would not spot the difference. So yeah the majority at the time wouldnt even know what's different.

P.s the Galaxy s is not Samsung's first Galaxy nor it's their first Android, the first one didn't get much attention. And htc was winning the android space. Till Samsung made the iPhone aka the Galaxy S

AnonD-135818, 11 Mar 2018"But only one OS lived to tell the tale - thanks to Galaxy ... moreWith out Samsung and htc Android would have been dead. It's not just the os. Google could not have made Android what it is with out Samsung and htc. Fast forward now that they have ground, Samsung needs the os to survive it's phones unless they fork it and make a better version independent and slowly take share

Kangal, 11 Mar 2018The first Galaxy S was the best Android phone of the year, ... moreGreat story... This should have been the review.

This was the most lausy article i read so far on GSM.
If you as a writer do not have time to write a whole article then don't finish half like this + it really felt like you just wanted to get over it fast.
Galaxy S line really pushed the smartphone industry forward and decided the way smartphones are used today.

This article was way too short and if you want to go into detail but don't then just discuss the models as a whole or go into detail.

AnonD-739791, 11 Mar 2018I think GSMArena flopped on the story by artificially short... moreAgreed.

One thing about subpixels.. Its true that there is a lower blue subpixels count.. However the red and green pixels are not shared... So on the whole the is no reduction in resolution as far as red and green subpixels are concerned

I think GSMArena flopped on the story by artificially shortening it. Why write in-depth about the Galaxy S, S II and S III and then gloss over the subsequent models? While I agree the S6 was the end of the S series, that simply isn't true.

There was so much, so much more variants of the SII. I remember all my carriers having a diffrent one. The SIII began the Exynos/SD duality, with CDMA carriers in US and Canada getting the dual-core 2GB/SD S4 variant, and the rest with the 1GB/Exy 4412 Quad variant.

The S4 came with the SD600, but an SD800 model came too (S4 LTE-A) and the octa-core Exynos 5410 Octa. For some reason they couldn't just have the same core count than the SD models. Like "ew we don't want our stuff to look like Snapdragon". Oh, it was the first to have an Active model. Just waterproof.

The S5. It got it's fair share of variants too. No, too many in fact. We have of course the localized US models, the regular SD801 S5, the Exynos 5422 Octa model, the S5+/LTE-A model for ﹰEurope with SD805, the special Korean S5 LTE-A with SD805 and QHD screen, the shock-proof S5 Active and the Sprint S5 Sport. Consider the Galaxy K Zoom as the S5 with a really good camera. Consider the S5 Neo, which got Nougat a whild ago.

S1 and S2 both overrated phones, samsung claimed they are iphone alternative and cheaper iphone version.

S4 and so on are all great.

And now samsung agressively markets s9 in my country

Always go for the odd number models in galaxy; ive owned 1,3,4,5 and the best are 1 and 5.
And i hear a lot of good things about the 7.

G2 and Z were better than S4 in many ways.
Better design, better built, better photos, better videos, faster, better audio. Z was waterproof. G2 with high screen to body %

Nice till they prepaired us for the end, as this tirns into another Samsung ,apple favouring story. First nice bit about old phones to make you think they are not biast, then with newer phones coming near to todays market, they start to appraise apple above Samsung in a Samsung story. Here is the news this story should simply be the rise of Samsung to the no1 world class phone manufacturer, without equal, after allanything that is not no1..is something other.

S3 had a better screen because rgb amoled is 50% better colors than pentile amoled on the s4. S4 is also known for having battery issues many users had it.
