Is... moreOh no, just looked it up on Aliexpress, "Global Version Xiaomi Redmi Note 5" 64GB SD636 and the price is listed as US $299.99 - US $325.99. This means that Nokia 6 (2018) with SD630 and a bunch of other phones are 'better', only (somewhat) slower. Question is whether to deal with their bull* MIUI interface as well, or to get Android One phone. Omg

Modern phones and networks support several bands at the same time using 4G+ / carrier aggregation, in Europe typically bands 3 + 7 + 20 at the same time even in big cities (but also combinations using bands 1, 8, 38 and so on are used in some European countries). This gives better speeds, reliablity and coverage. So yes you "need" band 20 even in big cities.
A phone that does only band 3 + 7 or worse only band 3 or 7 has much worse performance and reliability.
So far i've only seen 4G+ supported in China on Xiaomi phones, even for "global" models., which makes them clearly behind other brands sold in Europe with proper network support.

System on Chip (SoC) isn't named like that because it has only CPU and GPU, it's because it has all the essential components built into it. And I see you did mention it, but I see as well that you do not differentiate older 650 with this one. Even though the CPU and GPU clocks don't differ much, the 14nm vs 28nm process does bring great improvements since those clocks run at lower voltages, components are smaller and packed closer to each other which reduces latency and heat and helps with performance.
Furthermore, the DSP and ISP are carried over from 660 which is basically the same as in 82x, so you get flagship DSP and ISP which in turn helps a lot with image and video processing to name the few. Also the difference in ram type and speed is notable, you can't deny that, it's just a fact.
So, no it's not an old refurbished design. Have a nice day :)

A hundred euros more than Ind... moreEurope will most probably be getting the Redmi note 5 which has been launched in China with USB Type C with fast charging and F 1.9 aperture camera hence the increase in price as compared to Indian variant is justified.

AnonD-80360, 16 Mar 2018SD650 is really old...So are the S636 & S660 regarding the GPU & DSP while their is no performance difference between A72 & A73. As a matter of fact GPU on the S660 is the same one as on S650 only it's pared with LPDDR 4 or LPXDDR 4 wille on S65x it's with LPDDR 3. Same thing goes for S625 vs S636 GPU. So it's all old refabrished design you see. For me it's simple, all new design = new phone to purchase.

What?, 15 Mar 2018Did you just wrote that 636 is not an improvement over 650?... moreWell it's not improvement as; you won't need more than two big cores at the time except if you switch between games or Chrome and game but no one really does that. A72=A73 MHz/MHz regarding performance, A510=A509 with faster RAM and higher clocks. All do new A73's are more power efficient than older A72's and 14nm FinFET is twice the efficient as 28 HPM planar the real life SOT gain isn't more than modest 15~20% as everything else remains the same RF, display... Actually cut that to 10~15% more SOT with new fashion of 18:9 vs 16:9 displays that aren't useful at all but add 10% to display aria/consumption & 10~15% to GPU as it has more pixels to render. Sole advantage of S636 over S650 will be that it doesn't throttle at all while S650 does a bit. To put it simple the owners of phones with S65x SoC don't have any need to upgrade to the S636 nor even S660 for that matter it's much better for them to wait for either S640 or S670 in the mid range or new S7xx which will actually be a high mid range class of it's own as they will all pack; A6xx GPU, A75/A55 combo and DinamIQ cluster.

Mickie, 15 Mar 2018Yeah you refuse, go pay Samsung little more for Type C usb,... moreYes, the difference is that has slow charging compared with a quick charge in usb type-c and you'll suffer it every day. The charger out of the box is slow. And the micro-usb connectors are a lot fragile compared with the usb type-c connector and often end losing the soldering due to metal fatigue because they come with less soldering points.

Zoser, 15 Mar 2018I need the LTE B20 because is the most used here including ... moreOk well i dont know when 3G will be shutdown in here Estonia as we test 5G here now and fastest speed is 1.8Gbit/s And well we have other bands in our bigger cities in here that work and we need only B20 when we are outside of the city as the 800mhz is lower frequency that supports better speed for less users

Is the 28nm process better than 14nm, or 2xA72 performance cores vs 4xA73 cores (semi custom Kryo 260), has it got better DSP and ISP, what about type and speed of ram memory (933mhz DDR3 vs 1333mhz DDR4)?
You sir, have no idea :D That being said, the SD650 isn't bad, it has just been surpassed.
