I'm puzzled! I bought a similar scale (named Health-O-meter) from Walmart about 15 years ago! Still working. Definitely was around $20 at that time, so what's so exciting about the Mi scale?
Maybe it's a GSM device, else I can't find any explication why is posted on this website...

I bought this and the normal scale, it's pretty nice and fit well in our rooms. My family body weight is now uploaded to the Chinese government servers and they now monitor how my body weight changes over time. Sounds like 1984.

I have got the fitbit aria and it calculates just the fat percentage in addition to body weight and is very sturdy. Syncs over wi-fi to my fitbit account. So far so happy. So not wanting this one.

I have this scale. It's not a new product, and the surface is not glass. It's plastic, the build quality is very good and weight measurement is very accurate (with 100gr tolerance of course). I haven't had access to a similar device to see how accurate is body composition measurements
