Would prefer symmetry with small bezels. Notch begone. Or if it's with a notch, better make em status screen black/make a second display.

Fruity X notch, horrible, but, at least works in iOS, in android it is an absolutely aberration! All those android device makers are a total disgrace by just copying fruity to try to sell phones to all those wannabes that can not afford the fruity gadget, they try to say "hey, buy my cheap low device, now it looks like a fruity X, but for 700 dollars less!!, do not let all fruity users impress you, with our low, low cost cheap fruity looking device, you can now be part of that once, unreachable niche" lol

I do think devices with unique displays are distinguished, but I prefer having a full, non-rounded display panel. The "full-screen" trend isn't going anywhere, but will its design be as timeless as the original standard?

Full bezel please! No way I will bear to see a notch 24/7

DrearyDepp, 18 Mar 2018I can accept the notch in the iPhone X because unlike the u... moreYea it's totally ridiculos, most people who like Apple and iPhones already have an iPhone. Why on earth would Android manufacturers think the rest of us want the same and not the opposite of what the iPhone is and represents? iPhone is a crippled, completely impractical fashion toy (Although it's ugly too). I expect the opposite from an Android phone.

Well s9 and iphone x both are good. But the point is why some some companies are copying notch why not they come up with new idea new design

Honestly, if Apple believed most people thought the notch would be ugly, as the beginning of the piece suggests, they wouldn't have designed it. Personally though I think a dainty notch like the Essential or the even daintier Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s side notch give more character than the wide iPhone X style variant.

I can accept the notch in the iPhone X because unlike the untimely demise of the headphone jack, the notch actually serves a purpose and is *not* a sales tactic. In android phones? Heck, no. I don't know where manufacturers initially got the idea "Me copy iPhone feature, me make profit", but it's infuriating to see that people actually buy that crap and the end result is perfectly good phones marred with yet another useless "feature". Case in point, the new Zenfone 5 series. Does the notch serve any purpose a full thin bezel wouldn't have? No. Does it look ugly? Subjective, but a resounding yes from me. Let's also not forget that unlike the iPhone X these phones have a bezel at the bottom too, which makes the notch even more useless.
Look, I have nothing against Apple, iPhones or their users. They (Apple) can design their phones however they want to in order to fit new technology and if someone buys an iPhone, it's entirely their decision and I respect that. What I absolutely cannot stand is Android manufacturers copying iPhone features when it serves no true purpose, just for the sake of making a not-so-subtle iPhone clone. If these manufacturers actually make the notch useful by incorporating FaceID-like technology, it might actually be acceptable but until then? Just, no.

So "demand dictates supply" is officially dead. 85% Of people didn't want the 3.5mm jack gone too, yet none of these companies seems to have a problem offering stuff we don't like...

If you imagine the s9 with a notch. It can't even show the battery indicator.. It will be that small.. Oweing to how the sensors are placed.. Once i had hoped for a notch.. Not for the top but for the bottom with Samsung's iconic home button intact...

Notch is always a disadvantage. At best, it's ugly, but it's always more than that. It's practically part of your screen missing. Even when there's only notifications there, there's still not enough space for all the info. And when the bezel is on top of whatever content you're viewing...disaster. It's like having an area of dead pixels. Last i checked, it's considered a defect, not a "feature".

Iphone x design is beautiful, smaal footprint, height nearly same as galaxy s7 with 5.1 inch display.
But android notch is ugly. not symmetry. Thin bezel at top, thick bezel at bottom.

Notch on the bottom of the screen. Makes perfect sense.

The android notches are subjective in purpose whilst the iphone x actually has a legitimate use for it. Having said that, the notch still looks butt ugly. The asymmetry of it all is annoying. But not as annoying as the android notch + chin bezel combo. Now that is infuriating.

I'd accept if there's different types of designs not only a middle notch
For example like the LG V10
