That does not apply when doing other full screen activities such as games though. Then the notch can appear disruptive.

I'm all for smaller bezels, but without notch. It's better to have bezels like S8 than notch on iPhone X. However, iPhone X is the first iPhone that got my interest, merely because all its predecessors had mediocre screen to body ratio.

IPhone X notch for sure, it's the only phone where notch makes sense because they removed bottom bezel.

If you can't remove bottom bezel there's no point to have notch. All those Android copycats with notch and bottom bezel just looks silly.

IPhone X really looks like phone from the future.

Still waiting for new tech in batteries! Notches!? It doesn't matter! Given to users two days with heavy uses does matter actually (battery lifetime in daily uses)

Android gives notch a bad name!

Darshada, 18 Mar 2018I like the notch and I think it really gives the phone some... moreThe notch isn't iconic. It's just that Apple is the main trendsetter in the mobile industry. They set the standard, so whatever they do, whether it makes sense or not, whether it's ugly or not, Android OEMs follow suit and copy them.

As suspected, majority of people hate the ugly notches. Let's hope the manufacturers who're copying Apple right now get the message soon.

No to any kind of notch, period. I'd rather have adequate bezels to house any sensors and a free and clear screen than having a notch interrupt the full viewing experience of media content. This trend of continuously reducing bezels on phones only makes them more fragile, which necessitates spending money on repairs, or spending money on a whole new device. Either way, you're going to spend money, which is what the OEMs want anyway. It's us the consumers that are stupid, because we keep giving them our money.

Doesn't iPhone X notch significantly interfere with video playback of 16:9 videos? It's either in the way of the video, or the video has to be played in in smaller format than just cutting out the notch with a black bar/bars.

Have never been fan of screen touching edges or notch.
Reason is simple - it really doesn't improve the efficiency and ergonomically it's not advisable in long run.

I prefer regular screens with minimal bezels as required structurally ( but not the fat bezels).
I am happy with my MiA1 and iPhone 8 with regular screens.
Design wise I love Mi Mix and Essential phones ,with near bezeless design. But that's not the only thing I will consider for buying a phone.
Samsung design with term infinity display or edge display things seems weird and by no means I consider it as an innovation.

In nutshell, preference for an over all experience, updates and efficiency should be considered rather than bezeless, notch, infinity screen, under screen scanner and so on gimmicks.

I won't mind notch, even on both sides, if they come with front facing speaker grills.

I wont mind The Notch if bottom bezel is non exsistent like on iPhone X or atleast have front fingerprint scanner, cheap rip off have notch and bottom bezel which totally beats the reason for the notch being there so either give us notch with no bottom bezel and faceID or front fingerprint scanner or just make the top bezel thicker

I like the notch and I think it really gives the phone some character!

With the bezeless race, all the phones look the same to me from the front and leave no room for he imagination. I really like the iPhone X for having a notch to make it so distinguishable and unique. It became as iconic as the home button in just a few months. And don't call me a fanboy, I do not own a iPhone X...

Sure, in the next coming months a bunch of phone will have a not too, but somehow smaller, which is good, but that will leave the iPhone X still very distinguishables from any other phone. I really wonder what Apple will do this year with their notch.

And to be honest it is a trend the same way bezeless, no 3.5mm, curved screurn, or wireless is. And to be honest I found the latter totally worthless (more fragile back, takes hours to charge, you cannot take your phone while charging, you have to buy extra gadget and it reduces faster the battery life, I mean... What the point?)
All the phonemakers are following one or the other trend, bad or not. At least Apple is trying new things.

Can't decide.. it depends on the balance and the shape.

The small circular notch on Essential PH-1 looks really good, while iPhone X's notch is flat out hideous.

It's obvious people hate notches... except for Apple Fanboys :)

First of all hats off to VIVO for their APEX Concept phone for implementing various sensors beneath the screen and pushing the front camera sensor inside the phone for a satisfying solution to notches. Secondly and currently most of the phone manufacturers aren't being able to hide the sensors so that's why they implement notches as a cheap way to increase screen to body ratio but only XIAOMI and Samsung are doing a great job as XIAOMI has been making some great bezel-less phones such as MI MIX and Samsung with their Infinity display on S8 and S9. Therefore, currently the best phones you can buy to avoid notches are MI MIX series or S9 Series. #SayNoToNotch
