Samsung is number two in Japan.
Yes, in Japan, the Samsung name is removed and the Telcos print their own company name instead. The Galaxy name is still there though. Samsung does something similar in China and India. This is all about good business and good sales.

Yes, Sony is a Japanese company. But a USA and Korean company sells more phones in Japan than Sony. They are called Apple and Samsung. Meaning, the Japanese people prefer Apple and Samsung phones in Japan…Fact…Would you like proof ?

In fact, PS4 will continue to sell, even after the arrival of PS5 (or more likely another enhanced variant of PS4), so there is no need of stock clearance even then.

This is the best Sony design that i have ever liked, it's a little chubby and the exclusion of 3.5 mm jack is criminal, but the first Sony phone in a near while i like was the Xperia T and i bought it, then came the Xperia X and i really liked the understated design and i bought it, and now comes this and i am so buying it.

See they are not setting any trend, just following a trend started by a greedy company. Thats what i talked about. There is no need to remove headphone jack if you were going to build a 11.1mm thick phone. Thank god, they didnt follow the Notch trend also.

Do you value akg earphone in the same breath as a PS4? PS4 costs same as a xz1 in my country. What you call "Giving away an equally priced product as a freebie with a smartphone"? Who gives such an offer? I can only see two things here: Sony trying to sell more and more XZ2s or clearing their PS4 stock. There is lot more interest in PS4 than Sony's mobiles, they are just tapping those customers who are on dilemma to buy ps4 or not.
