If you can't hear people talking to you, what is a phone worth?
Generally, the bezel size in square mm, is equal between the 2 phones, meaning that the bezels on the Mi Mix 2 did not grow like claimed. They may just look bigger, specifically on marketing material, where the bezels of the original Mix were made look smaller than reality.

Sharp did it first but its not famous. Mi Mix did it second but no one follows. Samsung do it with s8 and everyone even apple follows. IMO Samsung still has the best infinity display (S8,SO,NOTE8 NOT A8 , A8 Looks bad with its huge bezels)

While the StB went down with the... moreAlthough you are right at that that screen to body ratio is a useless tool, in fact Mi Mix 2 has noticably larger bezels on the sides and the top. Don't believe me, believe your own eyes. Just check out Gsmarena's Mi Mix 2 page. There you can find photos of Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2 side by side.

While the StB went down with the Mi Mix 2, compared to the original Mi Mix, that has everything to do with a much smaller screen, which makes that same size bezels take up more space in percentage.
If small bezels is your thing, the Mi Mix 2 is as good a phone, if not better, than the Mi Mix 1. If percentages is all you care about then sure, you're better of with the original one. Just that percentage on it's own is totally meaningless.

First, xiaomi is a Chinese brand, and second the video language is in Chinese Mandarin.
As for the "regular" speak that you're talking about, can you NOT tell that it is matching the video/movie of the upcoming film Pacific Rim for the dramatic speech at those scenes?

Mi Mix I was an experimental phone with futuristic front panel but not suitable for mass production. Screen was fragile due to not having any bezels. I'm using Mix 2 right now and extremity satisfied with its looks, built quality, interface and specs. I'll gift this to my wife and buy 2S for sure.
